If this this"secret" project isn't second season getting announced,I am going to be really disappointed!

Even a bonus OVA thing would be fine! ANYTHING for even 5 more minutes of animated Mushishi would be fine! ;3;

Sweet! I can't wait for this manga to not get licensed in America!

Still, more Mushishi is a good thing, hopefully it'll get an OVA or movie or something and Funi will grab that.

I like Mushi-shi not least for its references to real life folklore and its interesting setting, which is not during an actual historical period but is nonetheless broadly about a time when modern, scientific thinking becomes introduced to a traditional Japanese setting - to the point that Ginko wears western clothes to stress his presence as an outsider.

The way mushi are presented in scientific terms reminds me very much of Robert Kirk's rationalisation of the fairies in his Secret Commonwealth when Scotland was similarly becoming exposed to scientific ideas. Actually, I suspect Yuki Urushibara may have read Reverend Kirk.

Its a very interesting world she created out of authentic Japanese culture, and tales from further away, and its very soothing to watch the anime adaptation.

Well Reverend Kirk wasn't writing fiction, he was trying to describe the Scottish spirits in a scientific way as 'congealed air'. Mushi-shi is presenting mushi (spirits involved in sickness) instead as part of the evolutionary tree of life, an idea absent from Japan before the 19th C, but the theme used is remarkably similar, especially when you consider that to people such as Kirk life energy was associated with air making his theory about fairies similar to the fictional description of mushi.

Because Urashibara has an interest in folklore and the Secret Commonwealth is such a well known text in folklore studies, I don't find it far fetched at all that she might have read Kirk.

I absolutely adore Mushishi, but I'm not getting my hopes up that this will ever make it to our shores Crying or Very sad .

Ooh and I just realized the first volume and the two special volumes will be out when I am in Japan. Will have to stop by Kinokuniya for sure.
