Well considering each of these series runs for about a year/50 episodes not sure why they had to make an announcement about it, unless they mean they're starting the new series in January instead of February this time around.

They're ending it December according to the Yaraon article, which is why this is news. DokiDoki has had terrible ratings so they're probably just trying to get to the new series as soon as possible.

Making Regina an irrelevant character likely killed DokiDoki, since she was all people really cared about in it.

Precure normally run from the beginning of February to the end of January, so yeah, next year's series is most likely going to start in January.

That has got nothing to do with anything.
Ratings doesn't matter when it comes to Precure series, as they are just toy commercials.

The reason "Regina" was the most popular word on Twitter in that month was because of the arc that aired.
I don't think she's any less popular among the people watching than any of the other characters.
Infact..

If the ratings didn't kill Saint Seiya and Go-Busters, I can't see them killing DokiDoki. There's something else in play. Maybe some show they want to begin in January, maybe toy schedule shift, or maybe Sailormoon. Or all of those!

Well I was expecting this anime to end in January-February like any other Precure season. At least I can look forward to read some updates about the new Precure.

I wish Toei did not put Regina on the bus for a long time. I wish she had more screen time.

This mean that Doki will have no more than 47 episodes. That's the same amount that 5 GoGo had.

I don't think Doki is bad, but it has its rough spots. One thing is that Regina shouldn't have just disappeared. Perhaps she'll appear for the last arc?

EDIT: I read somewhere that the ratings for the entire programming block that Precure is in have been dropping steadily for years. Also many people have been turning away from standard TV and watching programming through other means.

...that's what I heard anyways. I like Precure and haven't found that much to gripe about for Doki so I'm a little surprised. It'll only be 2-3 episodes short but it'll still feel weird.

Don't take at face value anything you read... Next time you will remember this thread and someone saying DokiDoki rating are terrible, LOL, DokiDoki ratings are good and withinn normal margins for todays standards, this kind of series have MUCH MORE going other than ratings to boot.

The issue here is the second part you mention, its not that Toriko or DokiDoki are doing particularly bad, the issue here is that tv is becoming obsolete, go check current ratings and go check those of one, two , three, four years ago, they have dropped FOR ALL series.

What is deceasing are not ratings for a particular series (mostly, there are exceptions, i,e. bleach cancellation, Area no kishi for example) but TV ratings overall, at least for anime which are the ones I am aware of and we all here are concerned for.

Sasae, Maruko, Detective Conan, ALL series in general are getting lower rating than one or two years ago. And if you want to compare the ratings of 4 or 5 years ago with those of the 90s, early 2000s, even lower. They are decreasing naturally a technology advances and makes tv obsolete.

Of course you occasionally read this nonsense on sites like this blaming Toriko for lower OP ratings than 2 or 3 years ago, or blaming Uchuu Kyoudai for lower DC ratings.

Which anime do we blame for Chibi Maruko-chan or Sasae-san lower ratings then?

So with a maximum of 46 episodes, DokiDoki is going to eclipse Max Heart as the shortest Pretty Cure series of all time. Let's just hope they can keep the franchise strong with the next entry.

Unless it drops to bleach ratings levels, a continuation with its excellent 4-5 rating is guaranteed, unless the creators wish to stop any new series of course.

My enjoyment of the show definitely decreased ever since Regina got sidelined. Only mildly entertaining character in the show if you ask me.

Just watched the latest episode though and it looks like she'll be coming back next week.

Do girls really care about Regina?

That's how one can usually gauge how well something is doing or it's just a trend (like gauging how well your investment portfolio, you can compare it to how the S&P 500 is doing). And like The Simpsons, so long as it keeps making money, they'd keep making more. Though seems like America has been doing, the Japanese are also weening themselves off the boob-tube - and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Read this from someone's Tumblr. Yamaguchi Ryota has denied rumors about DDP ending by December. It is still has a 49-episode format that will end by late January.

In case someone wants to give it a real translation. The one on that tumbler post is obviously Google Translate

Thanks for the twitter link. I'll translate.

"I don't know where the rumors spread from, but Doki Doki! Precure is 49 episodes (It's already done being written!). The episode the other day was episode 37. Next year, too, there will be one break for New Years, but the month will be broadcast in full."

I'm not sure what the 11/3 part is pointing to, since it seems to be referring to context I'm unaware of. Also, feel free to use my translation elsewhere and/or edit it, if need be.
