First off I want to say that I checked the encyclopedia about three weeks ago, and then I checked again tonight to see if this title is in the encyclopedia. The answer is no, as of current events. Moving on. I have to say that I had never heard of this title at all before seeing it in the bookstore, much less known that Rikdo Koshi had written it besides Excel Saga and Holy Brownie. So because it had RK as the author, I decided to see if it was worth my time and money to read.
Though not one of the best, I was not disappointed. This series takes a more dark and serious direction away from the craziness and gags that make up Excel Saga and Holy Brownie. When it comes down to it, the theme at first is obviously revenge, but then it gets down to having to save the world because of a dangerous power that the antagonist wants.
So, spoiler[a young woman is out to destroy a clan known as the Kureha, who practice martial arts but on top of that can use some other kind of power art. Why? Well, after watching her mother get killed because of something she felt needed to be accomplished, and then herself getting raped by those who killed her mother, I think anybody would want it. However she has Shion on her side, who was a servant to her mother, but now that her mother has died is a servant to her. The Kureha are after a disc that contains the answer to them opening the Arahabaki to gain ultimate power. After a woman from the Kureha failed to get it from Shizuka (our heroine), they attack again and this time succeed in getting the disc. Then Shizuka's half sister Rin is brought into this mess, when her father uses her as a way to get the power of the Arahabaki to transfer to him. So from here the battle ensues between Shizuka and Seiga, either to save the world or destroy it. Let's just say that it has a happy ending, but ]I'll leave it up to those who would be interested in checking this title out to find out for yourself what happens.
It's definetly worth a read in my opinion. The story is somewhat decent, and the artwork is on the good side. Something I would never expect from Rikdo Koshi, but this proves that he doesn't just do comedy, and it may be interesting to see if he might be able to do another series like this, but longer.
