By that i mean now that the logo doesn't match on all of your manga by them. I also hate it when the spines of a manga go together to make a long picture, and they don't correlate...
Am I just being pedantic? |

well i dont really care so much if the logos dont match up, but no, i dont like the new viz logo, i like the old white one that looked like a open book with an eye.

Actually, it really does bother me that the logo changed. I've got the first ten volumes of the Shaman King manga, and the first six have the old logo, whereas the last four have the new one. I know it's minor, but one of the things I love about manga is putting it on a shelf in order and having all the books look uniform.
It's like how my 2nd volume of FMA doesn't have the Viz Action logo on the top of the spine. >.> |

Bleagh! I hate the new Viz logo >< I thought that when I finally got the full set of Conan manga (which won't happen for a ton of years), I could stare at them, looking at how they all beautifully matched. Yes, I am veryvery weird. Now that Viz changed the logo, however, my comics will never perfectly match! It's incredibly annoying.

I don't like the sudden size changes of the viz manga for things such as Revolutionary Girl Utena which printed the first 3 in large format, then the last 2 in smaller format. Sames with Ranma, Inu Yasha and such.
I liked their logo before the book and the eye thing. The "V" that you can see on the sides of the earlier Vagabond, etc. But I suppose they need to try and get their name known so it had to be bigger and a little more recognizable. Change always hits bumps on the road but I think people usually get used to it. Bringing up that subject, I dislike the HUGE RED Tokyopop logo on the spines. I liked it better when it was blended and let the title stand out more than the logo. Reminds me of authors that sell by their name rather than the book title. |

While at least Viz logo is approximately the same size, colour and shape, the Tokyopop logo change really really pisses me off. Now the series starts with small inconspicuous logo and then changes into the ugly read blob. Yes, I really care about how the series looks on the self, I'm weird that way. |

Wow, this topic would definitely make Adrian Monk proud. Please excuse me while I laugh.
*Falls out of chair laughing* Sorry, I just had to say that. I honestly don't see the point of complaining about something as minuscule as a publisher's logo. It's not like they are going to change it back or anything. And yes, you're being very pedantic, CallumBarker. |

Yeah, that truly is more annoying than the logo thing, really. I have the first volume of Ranma, which is in the larger format, and when I was scanning the book store for more volumes, I noticed the manga were the "normal" size instead of the size of my Ranma. Personally, I like the smaller format better, but it's awkward to have to pile the other Ranma volumes on top of the first volume because of the different sizes...yeah. I'm kind of OC about this stuff. (That OC being obsessive compulsive, not Orange County.) |

I wouldn't know about VIZ, I have seen the new logo and the colors would probably stand out to make your collections seem "different". But I can understand your guys' pain, because I have some Japanese manga where the publisher had an older logo and just updated that logo. It's okay, but you can tell which volume of a series is older, and possibly really old.

I pretty much only by the Shojo Beat line, so I don't really know about the new logo, but I do have a complaint about the Shojo Beat style: all the spins of all the series look identical. There is variation in colour but that's it and I don't really like it. The old Shojo line had different fons used, even though the basic layout was pretty much the same. It made each series look a bit different, though still noticable Viz.
I also prefer to have entire series match but thankfully Viz hasn't changed anything in the Shojo series (no Shojo manga was switched over to Shojo Beat). |

I find the word "media" to be more irritating than the logo, actually. It's combining an abbreviation of "videlicet", a word even a simple person would recognize as "sophisticated", with a "dirty word" like 'media', creating an oxymoron. Even obviously media-oriented corporations like Viacom were more creative with their brand-names.

I don't personally care what the design of the spine on the book is. I am buying the book for what is on the inside of the covers, not the appeal of the spine. Who cares what they look like on the shelf. The important thing is that they are on the shelf for you to read and enjoy.

But they look so pretty on the shelf next to each other, all organized by series and alphabetized and everything, and having something different on some of the volumes just throws it all off. ....Okay, is anyone else this OCD about their manga? |

Yes. But I think you're either with us, or against us |

There comes a time in every manga fan's life when they must choose between having a neatly organized collection of spine-matching books, or being a mentally healthy human being.
