Speculation about Del Rey

I noticed here that Del Rey is going to publish Negima in english. I really liked Tokyopop's treatment of Love Hina, so i was kind of hoping they would pick up Negima as well. But instead we get Del Rey, which hasn't published any manga before, correct? That leaves me wondering if they will give us unflipped images and untranslated sfx, like Tokyopop's "100% authentic" stuff. I'm sort of new to manga in general, so i dont know what the "norm" is in the industry. What do you guys predict?

I would prefer the right-to-left format, because i think flipping distorts the artist's vision. And it's easy enough to figure out what the sfx are, so i prefer those to be untranslated as well.

I'm just speculating because, well, i'm really looking forwards to this. Akamatsu is great. Very Happy

del rey does a good job with publishing books and novels, so I think they will do a good job with publishing manga.

What I'm worried about is their Tsubasa release. If Tokyopop would of got it, I believe they'd release it in two versions like the original, which was a special edition hardcover with a box, and then there was the regular tankubon. I'll be crushed if they don't, but I then again I'll have the Japanese hardbacks already.

Their zero experience in manga releases is worrying me. I'm scared to think about how their text and touchups will look. >.< Especially with releases like Tsubasa and XXXholic.

Del Rey Manga will be having a panel this weekend at the Las Vegas Comic Con. Anyone planning to attend?

If I am not mistaken, they are doing Gundam SEED as well. If they do a good job of that, then they too will suck away part of my salary Laughing
