I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could get Super Dimension Century Orguss. I really loved it, and it was a really good anime. I saw it way back when I was a kid in the early 80s. I know it came out at the relative time as Gundam and Robotech, so people just passed it by, but to anyone out there who hasn't heard of it or seen it should check it out.
I've looked on both Amazon.com and Ebay and haven't been able to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Whoa, Orguss! Now there's a series I haven't thought of in a looooong time.
The trouble with finding the original Orguss series is it was never released on DVD, and the VHS tapes were released in the VERY early days of the US home anime industry. If you search for just "Orguss," though, you'll find at least the first 8 volumes. Not sure how many volumes were released (it ran 35 episodes according to the ANN encyclopedia), but that's a start.
The sequel, Orguss 02, should be a lot easier to find, as it was in print on DVD up until last year. If you haven't seen it, it's quite good, although I don't think it has much at all to do with the original Orguss (which I, sadly, have never seen).
Happy hunting!

I had the awful compilation OVA back in the Betamax era and was a big fan of the TV series.. With the lukewarm reception such mecha classics like Dunbine and Votoms received I don't expect to see a R1 release of this series. I really didn't like Orguss 2, since it was so far removed from the original. The R1 subs are really poorly translated if I remember correctly.

This belongs in the retail section, though I don't generally like these "I can't find it! Someone else do it for me!" kinds of threads... it doesn't sound like something Best Buy would be carrying either.

You can find them if you hunt, but my understanding, with some research, was that they never finished releasing the VHS tapes in the US. Somone is doing some fansub of them, if you hunt real hard, but they're also not done with them. I think they're only sharing them on IRRC (or whaterver it is), which I have no experience in.
I bet someone will make a torrent of the fansub when they complete the series (I think they were up to ep 20 or something), but they seem to release them at a very very slow pace.
That's all I know. Hey, at least he said he already hunted for them. Doesn't bother me any.

That would make sense, since the used copies being sold on Amazon only went up through episode 17, I think.

Hey, I did my part: I'm the proud owner of both Dunbine AND Votoms.
I never got a chance to see Orguss 02 subbed*, but the dub wasn't too bad. On par with most of what Manga was doing at the time, anyway.
* I was watching it streaming from Sputnik7.com, back when they offered quite a bit of Manga's catalog as a free stream. I know that Manga's license on Orguss 02 expired, but they DO still have the license to Landlock and a couple of the other shows they had on Sputnik7, but unfortunately all of it has been removed except for some trailers....and 2 episodes of Votoms for anyone who's never watched that series before.
