Not surprising at all, but Mushi-shi definitely the best announcement FUNi has made this week. Or within the past year, for that matter.
I really hope they go all out on this one. |

When I got to the kickoff page it still tells me that Friday is TBA, oh well, I'll have to trust ANN on this one. Hurray Mushishi!

I am really glad that Mushishi got licensed, it's one of the highest rated shows on this site.....so I figured it got to have something going for it. I watched the first 3 episodes a while back and it certainly was interesting to say the least.
I feel bad for the XXXholic fans since everyone assumed that it would also be included in this list of licensed anime....good news for the funimation channel getting new shows from the rightstuf. |

Yes! Finally. I've really, really been wanting to start collecting this along with the manga. I don't care how many volumes it is. I just hope they do a good job with the packaging and stuff. Maybe some really cool starter set like a box that resembles Ginko's backpack or something. Or how about a pack of Mushi cigarettes that are acutally candy in disguise ? Or better yet, a glass eye paperweight with a forest green pupil ?
This is my number one anticipated release for the year (unless maybe Monster comes out). |

Heh, Funimation needs to work on their timing. Yesterday they were early, today they're late... |

Supposedly, they had minor sever problems. |

Or a cursed inkstone that makes you fatally ill when you use it, unless you live at a high enough altitude? I'd like to see Funi work a deal with Del Rey to have Vol. 1 of the manga packaged with the first DVD. IIRC the manga is being premium-priced because of a fancy cover and such, so tying the anime into that would be very very cool. |

I had a feeling at the beginning of the week that this is the one they'd announce last, mainly because it seemed to be the one people were most anticipating.

That's not what she said. Just cause she kicks it doesn't mean there's a problem with the server.... :-p |

You don't remember those cigarette candies as a child do ya? They were basically gum but you could suck on them and get that sweet fake gum taste....yum.
One of the many releases that I am looking forward to, Le Chevalier D'eon is probably the title I am most looking forward to Mushishi being the second unless my dearest Monster is every announced. |

From all the positive replies I'm seeing of the Mushishi license, it's very likely I'll add it to my list of things to buy. I rarely watch fansubs, so I've been in the dark about this title.
Regarding the TV rights to those shows: I want to keep seeing FUNi keep diversifying their lineups. Boogiepop and Ninja Nonsense are excellent additions. I have Shingu, but haven't seen it yet, so no comment on that acquisiton. |

I was sort of expecting Mushishi when I got up this afternoon to check the site--although I was hoping for something "all-new," I'll count my blessings that Shuffle! got licensed.

Okay, so FUNimation has an all new collection of shows for their main channel, but are they ever going to do anything more to the CoLours TV block? That thing's in such dire need of a programming change that it's beyond me how they could really let it stagnate as much as it has.

Jeez, the one anime that FUNimation that I'm interested in, aside from Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, and I'm not going to buy it because I'm aiming to go far the manga by Del Rey instead due to my policy of not owning two versions of the same thing. A shame to me that FUNi really doesn't have anything that would fall under my tastes.
Ah, well; regardless, Mushishi is probably the best anime that is going to be released this year as of all the current announced licenses and releases, so it's a great thing that it will be available folk on the other side of the Pacific.
Make it a "must buy," assuming that you don't have the same thought as I do when it comes to buying manga and anime versions of the same material. It's one of the most fantastical anime out there, and in my opinion the best anime to see released in both 2005 and 2006 in Japan (2005 saw the first twenty episodes while 2006 had the remaining six listed as "OVAs").
To FUNimation nine times six must equal forty-two. I would assume that any other C&D letter from now on can be considered an "accident," thus the fansubbing groups can continue away with putting out the series? |
