I watched some episodes of Full Metal Alchemist and I loved it. When I started to watch it they were already done making all 13 dvds and I thought that it was just too expensive to buy all 13 dvds with the anime shows I have now. I was wondering if a complete collection of Full Metal Alchemist would come out. Do you think that there will ever be one?
[EDIT: Changed "Should" to "Will" in your title, as it makes more sense to the question you're asking. Also fixed your spelling of "Fullmetal." -TK] |

Yes. Just about all popular titles get a box set at some point. Not sure how long it'll be for Fullmetal Alchemist, but the trend I see is that most series get a box set about a year after the last volume comes out. That would be around fall or winter of this year (for maybe the first box out of three if they go by the same format).
I already bought all the LE sets, DVDs, and the LE version of the movie, so I don't care (haven't watched any of it yet either, but I will someday ![]() |

If so, I hope it's fancier than the Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. "Complete Collection." That just includes all seven volumes (of the first season) in a fragile paper box. No crafty box, not cute little extras (like w/ season two). I kept all volumes in the box because it looks better on my shelf and it's still easier to carry.

Is there a season two boxset for GITS;SAC 2nd Gig? I am sort of for boxset not having extras just so that people who bought singles get something extra, as a reward for supporting the show as it was released. As to when the boxset will be released, that a great question probably sometime this year. My bed is around November with all the Christmas hype, it will be interesting if Funimation decides to release 3 boxes or one giant box containing everything. No, I bought the LE volume one plus box deal. I like the extras, but I agree with you. Sometimes extras really aren't all they're cracked up to be. Then there are those series with three different special boxes. I pre-orderd Eureka Seven volume one and received the ugly brown T-shirt. The volume three black T-shirt is much better. |

Back in 2004 they announced that they'd be releasing the series in three box sets. That never happened and unfortunately I was holding out for those. Hopefully they put those plans aside to do a complete box set, but with nothing being announced I'm a little worried that they might be milking the single volumes for as long as they can.

Actually it did happen, that is what the three tins are. |

Are you sure? I don't think there's anything in the tins other than one volume and a bonus, not a box set like the article implied. Emerje |

Here is what Lance Heiskell from Funimation had to say in a similar thread back in September.
Doesn't sound like we will be seeing a boxset any time soon. |

The singles are selling well enough on there own. I wouldn't expect a box set until sometime late 2008, if even that early. Though, I'll admit to being a bit surprised if FUNimation divides up the series into three box sets, and not two. That would be overdoing it, in my mind. |

The individual volumes always rank well in terms of DVD sales at Amazon. It's obvisous that there are people who started buying the series late and don't want to wait for the box set. Which is, IMO, good. I'm sick of hearing people say that they'll 'wait for the box set'. If you love a show suck it up and buy the singles. Plus if they do release a box set it sure isn't going to be an economy collection so you won't be saving that much money. |

I've been waiting for a full boxset for a while now - I keep running into those infuriating "starter set" tins, which while good to promote the buying of individual discs (which is important itself to the support of a program), aggravates me when I mistake them for full boxsets.
My problem is that I watched all of FMA before it was licensed by FUNimation, each episode back-to-back, in a period of days. When I have a chunk of change, I want to buy an entire boxset, rather than one or two DVDs, because I feel like I can marathon a show all at once and get my money's worth by having the whole show at once. I've spoiled myself with boxsets. |

Yeah, that kinda is a puzzle. 3 Tins for 13 DVD's? I'd figure if you include the movie, 2 box sets with 7 DVD's each would be a logical "Complete Collection" for the furture. |

I thought it was going to be 2 boxes? There's only 13 (only..pfft) discs out. |

Well, more inane and "unfair" practices have occurred when it comes to anime, so I could see FUNimation releasing the series in the same amount of box sets as the tins, though that, in general, would defeat the overall purpose of it. Since I don't collect them and have little desire to own the Fullmetal Alchemist anime, it's no personal loss, but I'd feel sorry for those who wanted complete sets and who get only what they would've had the bought the tins, not to mention that they also would've acquired the soundtracks should FUNimation drop those as well. |
