I must say after watching the trailer I am really excited to see how this turns out. I mean Gankutsuou was really well done from the view Albert, I am just wondering how Gonzo will tell the story of the second most famous book.

For some reason when I first heard of it, I was thinking of a real straight forward adaptation, but this looks quite different and very interesting.
Plus I'm really excited that Hitoshi Sakimoto is making his first real foray into Anime composing. I really love his Game Music scores.

Wow. I must say, I'm very interested in seeing this series after watching the trailer. I love Gankutsuou, it really captured my interest right off the bat, and I hope that this series can do the same.
On a side note, I loved the music in the trailer. I hope the score is just as good.

I think the music is from a classic ballet piece, and might be from the ballet Romeo and Juliet, but I'm really not sure...
Anyway, I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!! It gave me warm fuzzies to watch the trailer!

Hmm they're at least two Romeo and Juliet ballets - one by Tchaikovsky and one by Prokofiev I have a disk of some of the pieces from the Prokofiev one somewhere but I haven't heard much of the Tchaikovsky version... plus I can only remember a few bits of the Prokofiev one. Anybody more familar with classical music able to answer this?

Wow, this looks frickin' kick! o.o This looks like it will be a wonderful adaption... And Romeo is bishie. <3 Will this be a series or a movie?
And I'm also in love with the music... Hitoshi Sakimoto, eh? Don't think I've played any of the games he's done, but I'm definately looking forward to it, especially if this was indeed his music in the trailer. ^^

The music for the trailer is Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture.
That made me very happy when I heard that. I hope they keep a classical feel to the soundtrack because I think it suited the action on screen well and fits in with the classical nature of the source.

Ah, so it's good old Tchaikovsky. Cool, now I know exactly what to look for. Thanks!

I must admit I wasn't really impressed with this series when I first heard about it, but I think that trailer just completely changed my mind. After all, Gankutsuou is great, so why should this not be?
Although I don't remember Romeo and Juliet ever battling each other with swords...

They don't battle. In here it looks like it's worked a little differently, but still the same storyline, lovers and enemies. Great music for the trailer, I hope we can get that for the anime itself

Yup, that's Tchaikovsky. I recongized it from Princess Tutu.
Speaking of, was that Junichi Sato listed among the credits? Is he going to direct this?
If he is, this is pretty much garunteed to be one of my favorite anime ever--I mean, the director of Princess Tutu working on an adaption of one of Shakespeare's plays made by the same studio as Gankutsuou? Pinch me, I must be dreaming.

I never rode any Shakespeare plays, but Im quite interested in this adaptation, I'll probably rent the book just to know what should I expect (On the other hand, it might not help, considering that Gonzo's Monte Cristo sometime strived incredibly far from sources). And the music is delightfull, I love classical, even if I couldn't name one song in the genre.

Hahaha! Yeah, I don't remember there being any Mecha in the Count of Monte Cristo either.
I loved Gankutsuou but I have to admit I thought the mecha were a bit superfluous. And I won't even get into how the ending theme jarred on my nerves after every episode. But hey, that show is still a thing of beauty. I'm sure if they maintain the same sensibilities in this anime (Romeo x Juliet), it will be fabulous. I do reserve the right to make fun of it if they throw in mecha during the fight scene though.

AH, so it's not Sakimoto for the trailer then, I thought it sounded just a WEE bit different than Sakimoto's usual fare. Still I have faith that his first real Anime Soundtrack will be worthwhile. He has a very epic, orchestral, almost John Williams-ish style to his soundtracks. I still think Final Fantasy Tactics is one of his best scores, and his most recent FFXII is nice, but it works better with the scenes in the game rather than listening to it on CD.
I know there's no YT linkings here, but one could get an idea of how his music sounds by looking up the likes of "Final Fantasy Tactics Intro" or "Final Fantasy XII intro.
Anyway, sorry if I dragged the topic off kilter, I'm just excited from this not only looking great, but this being Sakimoto's first foray into something other than videogames, Medieval Fantasy is definetely his forte.
