You probably know which one I'm talking about. I've seen it in Ranma, Kare Kano, and Evangelion among others. Thanks!

Most of the high schools looks almost the same in every anime. But maybe most Japanese schools look the same also.

I've also wondered about the majority of anime highschool similar designs reflecting reality in japan. I asked jon over at animenation if it had something to do with all the schools being built at the same time during post world war 2 reconstruction...I don't remember his answer anymore v_v

That was about what I was going to say. Few anime have their high schools based on real high schools. I guess a lot of them look pretty similar, but its probably simply because they tend to look like that in Japan. |

I too am really curious if the "Generic Anime High" reflects actual building style. Is there anyone who knows if that's the case, or just another style in anime (to draw the schools like that)?

Are US high schools all built the same? It's not like they're artless (get the irony?) idiots who don't know what variance means. |

Most of its graduates go on to become saviors of the world of some sort. Sadly, few go to college. |

They range and are in similar design at the same time. Elementary schools are going to be three stories high, middle schools four stories, and high schools the same as middle schools. Usually the schools with the similar designs would be the ones that have the older school buildings that have been around for a good forty to fifty years. Most public schools remain in this state. Newer schools will have different designs to them, or schools that have newer buildings. My school was a private high school, and I was actually in the fourth class to graduate after they opened the new school buildings. The design was such that it was five stories tall, had an elevator and a student lounge. The older building is now used for club meetings and storage, as well as rooming for those that might be doing "gasshuku". |

Sorry. But I don't think you meet too many Americans that go to Japan, learn the language, and go to their schools, do you? ![]() |

ah anime high school. demon invasions, exploxions, big entrance way where much property damage occurs. windows broken every couple minutes. and always at least two people who save the world, and usually have enough angst to fill a mental hospital. per person. especially true with the giant robot traffic killing the infinite number of nameless students.
and all in at least 3 anime. cant say life would be boring. extremely life threatening, but not boring. at least not until the series starts. |
