I'm sorry, but when I looked through recently added titles and clicked on this anime and saw the picture, I was laughing my head off. I know it's an adult only anime, but the picture alone tells me that this is a funny anime. If anybody has some input or has seen this anime, let me know, this one's cracking me up already

Looking at that one image - it looks nothing more than fanservice crap using anime chicks with massively disproportionate boobies. However, if it makes fun of the magical girl sub-genre -- that'll be a kicker.

Uh, I was talking about in terms of breast sizes... although, if you don't include hentai, Eiken has the largest that I know of. I think there's more hentai that also come close, but I really don't watch that much hentai so I wouldn't know...
It doesn't even come close... |

What is the deal with large breasts? This is one of those trends that I never really figured out, just like ugly-ass tramp stamps and most forms of body piercing. Unless you're as flat as a washboard, there's simply no need for breast augmentation in my view. I'm not against large breasts, who would be, but if you have to augment your body to get them why bother? They either look weird or feel weird or both and I can't imagine what kind of guy actually prefers feeling up a fluid-filled bag with skin over it to the real thing.
So now the desire for ever larger breasts has even crept into anime. Some of these titles have now exceeded what even the most well endowed woman in the world could hope to achieve through natural means alone. I don't get it. I don't enjoy it. I don't see what's driving it. Perhaps this is just another unexplainable case of divine irony when a country with some of the most petite women on the planet exports some of the most enormously endowed animated characters. Sometimes I think that American and European women are added to a given series primarily just to ensure yet another breast comparison scene or three will eventually come along. As for Cosplay Complex, don't even get me started on what's wrong with that show. Those of you who have seen it already know what I'm talking about. Those of you who haven't should probably do a little research before you pick it up. |

Ah, forgot about that one, although I was referring to mainstream. This one is definetly good competition for the anime being discussed, though. English dub was funny enough, too. |

Well, at the risk of sounding pretentious (or a total boob otaku  ), I think the fascination with extremely large breasts--especially in the gravity-defying variety as depicted in anime/hentai/ecchi--is not really anything to be taken seriously. It's really just a male fantasy, albeit of a very sexual nature, and the appeal may be because it's not a reflection of real life or of real women. Women usually don't have 100-20-36 measurements--and as you said, the women in Japan tend more often not to be very petite, so I can kinda understand the fascination with really large breasts over there, since it's not something that is seen in real life. And I don't think the issue is as controversial in Japan as it is apparently in the U.S., but that may be simply a cultural or societal thing.
Yes, there are real women who do get very large boob implants, but they are also taking part of that same male fantasy. In some cases, it's because they work in a certain profession (such as modeling or even exotic dancing), in others it's by personal choice (personal self-esteem issues). Still, it's all part of the fantasy, even if they know it or not. I'm not trying to sing the praises of big boobs, but there's an audience for everything and people should be entitled to like what they like, IMO. But like any fantasy, there are times when some women--mainly in the entertainment industry--do take it too far and start endangering their own health, such as getting boobs that are too large for their frames and they start having chronic back problems or blood poisoning from silicon implant leakage. I think that's when a line has been crossed and when a personal fantasy becomes a dangerous real-life situation. In comparison, big boob anime is harmless. |
