A new anime starting as early as January 2007, is called "Rocket Girls".

Another title with little kids in space? At first I wasn't sure but then they showed them in school uniforms. After watching the first few episodes of Stellvia I think I've had enough for a lifetime. Don't get me wrong, some series with little kids are still good, but titles with little kids in space just don't seem to work for me.

The upcoming Rocket Girls anime is based on light novels by Nojiri Housuke published by Fujimi Shobo, a division of Kadokawa Shoten. Mook Animation (Eyeshield 21) will be animating the series.
