What about the fact that prior to Shinji's becoming an Eva pilot, the characters didn't even know each other? Not that it matters, since RoE is a complete rework of the series. |

So these movies will essentially be Ultimate Evangelion? (Marvel fans will know what i am talking about.) I thought it was written that these wouldn't be remakes.

They can use the same characters and setting without it being a remake (something I wish Transformers fans would finally wisen up to  ). Gainax is just taking those elements and completely reimagining them in a new and different way, whereas a remake would be a deliberate attempt to adhere to the original source material with only a few changes here and there.

By referring to new story, is it for the entire 4 movies, or is it only the first that Rei and Kaworu will be the main characters? Although I can see why they would use them as the main characters for all 4.

You probably heard this on Anime News Service, as they did state before that it was going to be a remake. This must have been some kind of error or mistranslation though, as it definately isn't... And because they got the news out faster than Anime News Network did, I know a lot of people who are incorrectly thinking this is going to be a remake... Anime News Network got the news correct though. |

To me, it almost sounds like they are following the Angelic Days story line... interesting... I so want to see this movie when it comes out!

Just a little random thing but has anyone seen the fake Live Action EVA poster that has Elijah Wood as Shinji, Natalie Portman as Asuka and I don't know who the girl who they put as Rei. The poster was actually pretty good but like the rating on the poster said........its fake. Just wondering if people saw it and thought it was pretty good.

as far as I can tell they are completely different things: Weta Studios has the lisence for a live action trilogy according to the head of ADV in an interview at a convention (sorce is this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4303537030524950783 ) This is Gainax's individual work, and is also animated. If things go as claimed they are going to come out around the same time as one another, which will be interesting O_o |
