Anything just start that's really interesting right off the bat so far? I know Death Note just started and already am all over it, checked out Red Garden (which is...weird, to say the least xD) wondering if anything else caught people's attention.

I have some friends who say that Bartender (just air last night) should be very interesting. It's a Manga by Araki Joh who does the story and Kenji Nagatomo does the art....other then that the new season of Black Lagoon is really turning out to be an incest parade......but other then that I also really into Death Note. More then anything else I am looking forward to Ergo Proxy, which I know already concluded but I didn't watch fansub for that....since Geneon said it was going to be out before the end of the year...so that my Number 1 release I am looking to get in November. I am looking forward to Zac preview of this new season....assuming that he is going to be doing the fall preview section again. Delta |

(OT) Where can you find a list, if possible, of all the new upcoming anime that's going to be aired? Is this list too big or are there normally a set number of releases in a season or however they break their schedule down. I understand the reason behind 13 and 26 episode series.

In the encyclopedia here. Latest in Japan There are links on the right side of any encyclopedia page and one is the 'latest in japan' in the Anime subsection. Once you are there you can even customize the listing using the options at the top. |

I just looked it up on the encyclopedia and its got 21 masterpiece votes already. Seriously... thats just retarded... Sure you can rate something before it finishes, but giving it a masterpiece after one episode?! Surely its not even fansubbed yet? Oh well, if it really is a masterpiece maybe I should check it out. |

You think that's bad, Death Note is on it's second week in the top 10 (weighted average) and has already climbed to 16 on the overall bayesian. And the 2nd episode just became available maybe a few days ago. I mean sure I liked the first episode, a lot, but I agree that it's too soon to declare it a masterpiece. |

Here is a list of series that have had threads made about them and the respective threads (including all the Fall 2006 threads I could find).
That worries me a bit. I mean, we all expected Haruhi's rating to slowly (or not so slowly) drop out of its top 10 spot when it all of a sudden landed in there, but instead, it kept climbing higher to the point where it was the second highest rated series on ANN's top 10 list. As of right now, it is #6, and I expect that it will probably stay around there. |

Personally, I'm quite enjoying Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (Henceforth Iroha for short). The animation seems nice so far, and it's set in the same time period as Rurouni Kenshin though given the events of the first episode I suspect there will be alot more Gaijin then there were in Kenshin.
The Opening is nicely animated and has one of the better OP themes this season. It's a pity there's no subs for it as my Japanese is not good enough to fully enjoy the series without them. Oh well, at least it doesn't stop me from understanding the gaijin in the series who speak actual English sometimes. So, if you happen to be more fluent in Japanese than I am you may want to give Iroha a try. |

I've had that one on my fall watchlist but it has yet to be fansubbed. The Same goes for Ayakashi Ayashi. There's a good selection of recently premiered anime. I'm still waiting for the first episode of Hataraki Man, which actually beat Death Note in the ratings. |

I'm personally loving Death Note, which I think has a high probability of maintaining it's high rating...though the way Madhouse handles the second half will probably be the determining factor in that.
Both Black Lagoon and Pumpkin Scissors have been a lot of fun to watch, but I'm worried that Pumpkin Scissors is going to go downhill in the next few episodes (either in animation quality, story quality, or both), while I'm relatively sure that Black Lagoon is only going to get better. I trust Madhouse much more than Gonzo. Finally...I'm very much looking forward to Bartender. The only bad review I've seen of the first episode was a forum-goer complaining that it wasn't flashy enough, and there was too much monologue...and that's exactly what I was hoping it was going to be. Semi-off-topic: Bartender already had a bunch of masterpiece ratings before the first ep aired: it was some weird 4chan campaign to get it noticed. |

Yeah, but Death Note is based off of one of the most popular manga series out, and is my absolute favorite series. I haven't rated it yet, and won't until I'm confident in my rating, but I can completely see where most people are coming from. They've read the manga, and only needed to see the anime to see if it did the manga justice, and if it does, unless they screw it up in the future, it's earned its rating. I'm surprised noone mentions things like Honey and Clover II when discussing things like this. I've never seen anyone mention about how over blown its ratings were when it first started airing, but it was number 1 and then number 2 on the bayesian list with only like 20 or 30 votes after the second or third episode if I remember correctly. It wasn't until people went in and spiked its ratings down a bit that it lost its top spot (I know that at the very least, it was leading the median ratings list for at least 2 weeks, probably a month with a rating of more than 9.21, FAR before the show was even half over). A quality show is a quality show, sometimes one can tell this early in the show (like I believe is the case for a show with a manga like Death Note and a relatively faithful anime adaptation), and sometimes you can't really be sure until the last episode (like Utawarerumono for example). |

I have no problem with Death Note staying #16 or even making it to the top 10, but if I ever see its rating inflate to the point where it snags the #1 or #2 spot (for whatever length of time), my heart will probably skip a beat.
I'm abstaining from giving the series a rating until I see how Madhouse handles the huge blocks of dialogue and psychological warfare. No matter how faithful, I'd imagine that the series might get a bit boring if those parts are not handled properly. |

I'm still not caught up with the last season (probably not the one before that to be honest..) but I did watch an episode of Red Garden. Looks like the story isn't likely to get interesting till at least the second episode now, and it needs be be interesting as I really did not take to the characters designs (reminiscent of Yukikaze).

[OT] My personal opinion on Death Note and Honey and Clover II is that, yes they are very good animes, but the problem is that there is just too much blinding hype around them. Unless they were complete hack jobs, they will be overated till death. Sure Death Note had a very good pilot episode, but it wasn't an "OMG im goona wet myself its sooo good!!!1" Bottom line is, ratings should reflect what the series is, not what you want it to be.
Back on topic. I'm looking forward to Negima?! that has just started airing since the first one was rather hastily completed before any of the manga story had started to develop. Also looking forwards to Host Club and Melancholy of Haruhi to hurry up and come across the Pacific. |

I've been lookinf forward too Code Geass for the fact the art styles used for the Bots are pretty cool. Death Note of course, and D-Gray Man still looks cool to me too. Although Red Garned was a little boring at the beginning it got interesting. and to end this KANON, we must watch the KANON
