Now this i wanna see pictures of. an anime hotel.....SWEET! itll probably have more anime fans wanting to stay there than anything. any fan visiting San Fransico will "attempt" to get a reservation. hell even people living in the city will stay there sometimes.
plus tourists from Japan will go to San Fransico just to stay there. hopefully they consult the right people, otherwise this could flop.
now only if there was an american Akihabara....

That would be interesting to see. Prob going to be similar to Disney themed businesses.

From the items stated as being on order in the article, though, it sounds like it might be... tacky.

Well, this looked like fun so I submitted my name recommendation. Actually, their website looks nice.
It won't be tacky if you use the right themes.

Interesting... Wonder if they'll keep the Japanese style baths in the rooms. They're nice but they take a long time to fill. I stayed there in January this year and did hang out a bit in the mall when I wasn't out doing other stuff like eating and drinking my way up and down Fillmore Street with a friend for four hours. Yup the mall needs an update and so does the hotel. Just wonder what the "pop culture" makeover will look like. A place looking like its decor was designed by Murakami Takashi would be really neat...

Sweet! I live in San Francisco, so I'll definitely check it out once the makeover's complete.

That's interesting to hear, considering they've played a nice role in all but killing the anime convention that takes place there. Ray may not be the best at running a convention, but their pricce hikes certainly didn't help.

Guess who will soon be staying in a specific hotel right near where I live for a few days (or at the very least, visit)...

it sounds like a silly gimmick with a huge possibility of becoming really tacky in a couple of years unless they plan to redecorate in a couple of years or whatnot. i'd probably be embarassed to be seen near it.

I dropped by this thread just to say that. Maybe they'll try and take over the JTAF stuff themselves?
It'll be interesting to see what happens, though.

It should be called Hinata So! X-D
Or at least Hinata Inn and have flying onsen turtles, mecha and flying otaku (or at least just one otaku who's punched into orbit by Naru).
Sorry, it's too early in the morning.

I'm sorry, but this just sounds dumb. I mean, how many San Francisco-based anime fans are really going to stay here? And anyone else (i.e. people who don't care about anime) aren't going to get anywhere near this hotel. I can see the place going back to its original state within one year of the anime-style opening.

Now all we need is an American anime studio.

We already have them. They're called Disney, Pixar, Warner, Dreamworks, etc. Though that's another thread.
