They look nothing like the characters. I know it's hard to translate the manga to live-action, but this is kind of... Uh... Not even translating the character's personalities.

This is one of the main problems I have with live-actions. More than not looking like the characters, the actors don't even have the character's personalities. That's why I tend to stray away from live-actions. Call me picky, but that's the way I am.

Can you please elaborate on that? Even if its your opinion..

I watch alot of anime and I've only seen a few live action remakes but I've always wondered the same thing.

Is it because:
a)actors not having enough range aka culture Japanese tend to be more reserved
b)directors/studio decision to remake it in their own vision

They look too old imho... Don't they have some idols that really are about 17 or 18 and could act in a series like this?

It's also not as if the characters in the manga were looking totally flashy or unrealistic. It's not impossible to play them in live action. Judging from this promo pic, they could use a bit more hair spray for the main guy though.
