Apparently, the manga's sales got a decent boost once the anime started airing. A second season is seeming possible.

Good, good. That's a good scenario where the manga gets a big boost in sales whereas the anime flounders about.. And yeah, I checked. Before falling off the charts volume 7 of Flowers of Evil barely sold 40k copies. Meanwhile volume 8 sold 90k before falling off the charts. So with just one volume difference it more than doubled the sales, not bad.

Indeed. Lets see if it actually happens or not.
Those of you that screamed failure since day one, GAME OVER, good luck next time, anime is now a success, like it or not, independently of its own sales.
But despite the tears and whining, in majority from certain type of fans, this is one of the best series (in all aspects) this year so far.

You know, I just wanna take a moment here and thank all the whiners and complainers. Without your weird, pathological inability to tolerate people liking things you don't like this show simply would have pleased a small group of people and then passed into obscurity. But, thanks to the giant shit storm you created, it got a massive bump in popularity. And even though you tried your darnedest to make it bad publicity in regards to the show, it only resulted in a torrent of people rushing out and buying the manga. A second season is by no means guaranteed of course. But it's looking a whole heck of a lot more plausible now. And it's all thanks to you guys. And for that I say, thank you. Thank you and flame on my crazy little friends.

But you don't seem to understand ikillchicken. Most people who dislike the anime actually want people to buy the manga. This is a complete win. It's not that we dislike the story of Flowers of Evil, we just dislike the director's decisions of how to frame that story. So really ikillchicken, you look pretty silly with that comment right there.

From what I understand, Zexcs are not known to do sequels/season 2 of animated works though.

Oh I'm sure they do. But my point is that the people who seem to so loathe the Flowers of Evil anime are quite possibly gonna be responsible for it getting a second season. And that makes me laugh.

Hope this improves the chances of a second season. Been reading the manga since the anime ended, and while I'm enjoying, I'd love to see more of the anime

With it being the 13,029th ranked and 28,523rd ranked Bluray/DVD on Amazon.co.jp respectively, I find that quite hard to believe. Meanwhile the ninth volume of manga is currently ranked 39th among manga. So it's plain as day to see which framework of the story the fans prefer.

Well, here's the thing: yes, the manga got a huge boost. Yes, it was thanks to the anime, no doubt about that. But I still don't think there will be a second season. Not only because that studio doesn't really do sequels, but because a second season of the anime would not give the manga another boost. The first season won't sell, but it gave the manga a big boost. It's job is done. If they make a second season, it won't give the manga ANOTHER big boost, especially since the manga is way ahead of the anime.

Maybe they'll do a second season with the manga's artstyle, and another director. Now that would be hilarious, to see everyone who loved it suddenly hate it. Don't tell me any different, you know you would.
Yeah, it's not like people hate the idea of Aku no Hana if the manga sells, they just don't care for the anime adaptation.

Maybe. But it can extend it.

Well, its a possibility, there always a first time, BUT indeed, by no means the manga sales boost guarantee a second season. If it happens good for those of us that liked it. Me, I aint counting on it, but with this the door is there to be opened.
But lets just not say never, we have FREE as recent example of why and how many had to eat their words.

You are being quite silly, are we going to claim to now that nobody likes Chihayafuru anime but it is really manga that they like?FoE is not aimed at otaku, but at the kind of people that dont buy expensive BDs and just go cheaper source material.Same with From the new World it had shitty anime sales, but novel sales went up.

Well, Chihayafuru sold 3k copies which is actually pretty decent. The SSY anime was pretty much a colossal failure financially speaking. Anyway, I'll hold off further comments until I see how many copies FoE pushes. .
