Hey, random question, what makes the manga so much more explicit than the anime? I mean PG and Mature ratings are a world of difference.

The anime added clothes to the naked characters. If you've seen volume 1 of the DVD and of the manga, when Akeginu fights Josuke (my spelling might be off), Akeginu is fighting topless in the manga, while she has a long red scarf looking thing covering her up in the anime. I haven't read all of volume 1 since the story is exactly like the anime which I am also purchasing and would much rather collect than the manga. I picked up Volume 1 for $7 which is really the only reason I bought the 1st volume of the manga.

The anime is rated TV-MA by the way not TV-PG. Maybe you saw that rating on some website, but the back of DVD 1 has TV-MA on it.

I own the DVD, and I'm well aware it's rated TV-MA on DVD, but the TV airing is PG.

Edit:Oh, yeah, thanks for the info. I've actually been wondering about that (the differences) for a while.

You actually get it on TV? That is awesome. Canada?

Do you know if the TV broadcast is edited? Or maybe it's just a rating error and the wrong thing was put during the broadcast.

Yep, Canada all the way man! Laughing

I seriously doubt that it's a rating error though, seeing as every episode of Trinity Blood, Basilisk and Samurai 7 up until now has been rated PG. I also know they're completly uncut because a) Canadian Networks can't afford to edit b) and are to lazy to edit evn if they had the budget and c) they showd Okoi partially naked in episode 7 (?). Why? Havn't the slightest, I just calls 'em as I sees 'em.

Edit: well, that topic (weather Okoi is actually naked) is currently up for debate here: http://www.zannen.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52&start=50 (contains spoilers, procede at your own risk)

Volume one fell flat in virtually every aspect except the art IMO, so I'm very hesitant to give the series another shot even with the fairly possitive review (I think you had a similar score for the first volume). I don't know, it could be me; I always though series like this worked better in animated format (see Ninja Scroll), so maybe I'm better off renting the anime.

Well the main purpose of this series is for those super ninjas to fight, and nothing better than lighting fast battles that manga can't offer. So I don't blame you for not liking the manga. There really wasn't much in what I have read and much prefer the anime just cause of the fighting.

Some scenes are also added in the anime. Like the whole flash back of the old people in the First episode. The manga doesn't contain the flashback and goes straight to the "conclusion".

I like both the manga and the anime, very much. I like the Manga better though. I really enjoy the charcters in this anime/manga. They are really well done in my opinion and there relationships with each other are great. I highly reccomend the anime to any one who is a fan of Japanese Ninja.
