The price isn't bad for what you get, seriously.

It's not going to make you a VA... it will get you started, and offers the potential of a good foundation for a professional network.

As someone who does commercial and industrial VO, I'd give this one a shot, even though I am on the EC. IF I can clear up my schedule in time, I will probably fly out to CA to do this (and use it as an excuse for a well-deserved vacation, visit family, tour the wine country, etc.). While it's not my usual fare in front of the onion, it would be fun to see it done from another aspect in the industry Smile

EDIT: for those on the EC who are going to complain that it's not fair, welcome to life... and yeah there are animation VO courses out here as well. I'm going to be at one at the end of Oct... if you're serious about VO, you will find this stuff through your travels. Smile

I think this is pretty cool. I have no desire to be a voice-over actor, but as a general anime fan it would be great to attend one of these workshops just to see how the process works. I wonder if these type of workshops exist in Japan for their future voice-over actors. I'm pretty sure they exist there.

I have been to several Voiceover seminars as well and your right that price is not bad at all!
Especially for those who have a focus on working in Anime.
I just got back from CA 2 weeks ago though! LOL! We'll see if I can budget another trip or not.

Hey Saikori,

you know that there's someone in Houston and Dallas who does something similar, right?

$450 for six weeks (2 hour classes each) with some involvement from ADV (at least they marketed it as such).

I don't know if it's still offered, but might be worth googling for.

Biliano,

if you want to see how the process works, just go to any con that has an ADR panel. Kyle Herbert does some great ones, as does Richard Epcar and several other anime and commercial voice actors.

Very Happy Easier said than done! The next con I plan to attend is SugioCon in suburban Cincinnati, and as far as I know they won't have an ADR panel this year. Unfortunately I don't have the time nor the finances to attend cons at a regular basis, but thanks for the offer anyway. I'll consider it in the future.

This would be fantastic for the left coast folks. The VA industry is about as easy to crack as the hollywood scene, some would argue.

The one day course would certainly wet your whistle to see if it's something you'd want to do.

I might check into that. If nothing else I'll check with my acting coach and see if she knows. I don't know if any of the people I knew from ADV are still there Razz It's been nearly 3 years since I last recorded anything for them!
Thanks again!

If I find it again, I'll PM the info.

I can imagine that good character VO classes might be harder to find in that area, but that's why we pay more for private instruction. Laughing

Here's their website:

The studio is located in Burbank, CA. If you're interested just fill out the information on the site and click the "submit" button. The $299 fee must be paid in cash or check only.

If I had the money and lived in the area, I'd probably go to it. I think it would be a very unique experience

Voice Actor Boot Camp sounds pretty interesting. It like Boot Camp but you don't struggle in military training or get yelled at by your drill instructor.

In this thread, I made a statement about the fact that I do a great job with voices of different characters. For example: I do great with voices of almost every videogame character like Goro from Mortal Kombat, any soldier from Full Spectrum Warriors, Fox from Star Fox, and Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

I would take a career in voice acting when I go to college, but I'll just go ahead and do CGI. Razz

I have a great voice. My imaginary friends told me so, except for Nerdo who's jealous. Shocked
