According to the article, Ro-Kyu-Bu! actually debuted at #10.

Hm... lower than Uncharted 3 did. Guess Naughty Dog is losing their touch

That's negligible. Uncharted 3 did 124k first week, only 7k more than Last of Us, a new unknown IP in Japan. And Uncharted became basically PS3's new mascot (there's even a bundle) and had Harrison Ford: Concerning the circumstances, Last of Us did pretty well. Just be happy for it, can you do that? |

First week sales figures for Kami Jigen Idol Neptune PP, known as Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia in the West, indicate that the Neptune/Neptunia game (and upcoming anime) series has a solid, steady fanbase in Japan and continues to be a moneymaker in that country.
It's nice to see Naughty Dog's latest game, The Last of Us, doing well in Japan. I'm a fan of their Uncharted game series, having completed the last two Uncharted games on Crushing last year. |

Just pointing out that's not very good sales numbers in relative aspect. It's only #1 because nothing else came out that week. Gotta look at perspective, ya know? Especially when it's hyped as a system seller here in the states and being called game of the year, it did pretty poor all things considered. Just like Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite which may have gotten mucho praise in American circles but Japan didn't care for them either. It's not like Mario or Final Fantasy which sells where all over the globe. |

Do you have any, ANY other purpose or intent on this board other then to be dismissive towards western media? Because that's pretty much been the subject of EVERY post you've had on this board, which I'm pretty sure falls under the boards anti-soapboxing policy |

Just offering a friendly little clarification and counterpoint is all |

There's no clarification or counterpoint needed.
The Last of Us was a huge hit, all around the world. That's not too surprising as that has been the case for Naughty Dog stuff for quite awhile now. Still, it's good to see them do a new IP instead of just regurgitating the same concepts over and over like Mario and Final Fantasy. |

Your liberal use of emoticons says otherwise, honestly. It gives a strong impression that you really don't take any of this discussion seriously, or really friendly for that matter. |

>_> You just described half the people on the forums. Everyone's got a posting gimmick. enurtsol's just as anti-Japan and pro American, mdo's just as pro-Korean, Snomaster's just as pro-American, Chagen's just as pro-feminist, Keonyn's just as anti-Titan, rahxephon's just as anti-anime, Zac's just as anti-moe x_x; I'd say everyone just cancels each other out half the time
o_O; In what world is 110,000 copies a huge hit to you? And I'd rather play Final Fantasy than LOU. LOU being a new IP doesn't change the fact it's still a bland shooter starring a middle aged white guy who uses guns. it's literally Uncharted but with some cashing in on the Walking Dead fad x_x How is that not regurgitating old concepts? at least FF can radically change the gameplay, art style and setting each game x_x |

Yes, I suppose people have "gimmicks"... ...but the thing is, most of the people you described have things OTHER than gimmicks, DISCUSS other things besides these so called "gimmicks"...have SOME kind of conversation like semi-normal people, unlike you and lostrune who do nothing, NOTHING here but dump on the west in the most condescending manner possible. It's pretty much your entire character and purpose here. Why don't you guys discuss something else for once? Because having just a gimmick really isn't tolerated here. And I honestly find this kind of nationalistic bias kind of distasteful, no matter which side it's on Of course, I have to wonder if you and lostrune are actually the same person, between the anti-American spiel and the emoticon usage... What clarification did you add? Because in order to do that, you'd of course have to add something that cleared something up, which of course you didn't. You thought it was a clarification to add that it sold a bit less then Uncharted 3? But you didn't because no one asked such a thing and there was no misinformation in the article. Since you don't know the word clarification, I doubt you know context, let me add it for you. The Last of Us has a creo rating of Z, the highest in Japan and normally a hindrance and it's a new IP. It sold about 88% of it's shipment and just a bit below U3. Losing their touch? No, sounds more like it's pretty strong.
Sadly, your understanding stops there and fails to realize that selling over a 100,000 is pretty damn good for any console game in Japan. Espicailly a new ip.

The game is anything but bland. Mature and well written narratives are few and far between in games. As are slow paced and resource focused third person shooters. Joel may in fact be a middle aged white guy(which is better then pedo little girls), but his character is far more nuanced and constructed than pretty much any other game released this year. Rarely do we get a character who is this grey, but still with standards. Rarely do we get a game where the violence the character makes sense for himself. It dosen't play like Uncharted, you don't know what you are talking about. The pacing is different, there is no going rambo in this game. One enemy is a problem unlike UC which is basically like a Gears clone. Shooting is different and far more impactful as you do have to actually care about your resources here. The cover system is a lifesaver here, not just a thing you jump over as one shot knocks you down and can easily lead to a game over. There's no platforming, encounters take more thought, and stealth is not just an element but a fully implemented thing that is a better option then just shooting enemies. It dosen't even have the focus on cinematic scenes like Uncharted. You simply haven't played the game and shouldn't talk about it. Is it crashing in on the Zombie fad. Probably, but how is that an arguing point? It's not and makes you look silly. Espicailly when the game executes it's narrative well, which of course you wouldn't know anything about. When people cash in on a trend we get things like Macross, Silent Hill, Vanquish, and whatnot. It's not a bad thing. Not when they actually do something great with whats been done before.
