This korean animated film has a quote on the back of the box by anime on dvd.com - "an utter delight, a film of beauty and understanding... I must give My Beautiful Girl Mari my highest possible recommendations. A+"
Pretty strange considering the two reviews listed on the website are a C by the excellent reviewer Chris Beveridge and an A- by some other reviewer on the site. Neither of the reviews have this quote. What do you think this means? Could they have taken a quote from the forums? That would be hilarious if they did. Anyway, what did you guys think of this film? I couldn't get through half of it and have been trying to sell it since. :p The animation is terribly jerky and ugly while the art style is a mixed bag. The story was pretty boring as well. |

Trust me. A film company can find something good said about their project in the worst of reviews...even if they have to use only one word.
I find it interesting that they do not say who have the series such a glowing review, perhaps it was by the same Sony employee that said Mel Gibson's The Patriot was a terrific family film. ![]() ![]() |

The quote came from the region 3 review we did of the title prior to it being licensed in the US:
http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews2/disc_reviews/2282.php Wherein it got an A+ rating and you can find the quote in there. |

Thanks for that. I probably should have just asked this on your website's board. I'm a big fan of your site too and feel that you are one of the best anime reviewers around. Your reviews and recommendations have helped me more times than I can count. And I'm totally with you on Elfen Lied too ![]() How's that for being a suck up? ![]() |

Makes my day :) One of the changes we made recently that some folks don't know about is that we do a "By Series" review, so you can see reviews from other regions, blu-ray, hd dvd and CD's. |

Series reviews are a great addition. I'm one of the consumers who always waits for the boxsets to be released because I like watching it all at once. These series reviews will be be very helpful for people like me. Also, I always got the feeling from your reviews that the last dvd review for a series was more of a review of the entire series as a whole. Do you ever take your overall impression of a series and weigh it with the final dvd or is what I've seen just a coincidence? Concerning the HD DVD/Blu-ray, I'll be keeping up on people's opinions on if they're worth it. I'm not ready to do the switch now since I just recently built up my DVD collection. Not to mention that we have no idea which one will end up dying off. I'll be getting a PS3 at some point though, so with it's blu-ray player I don't think I'll be able to pass up on any Shinkai movies released on the format. That would be pure eye candy right there. And in case you didn't see my edit in my previous post, I'm totally with you on Elfen Lied, for me it wasn't that special. Nice to know I'm not the only one. ![]() |
