It's almost certain it will get this on dvd.

Viz wouldn't waste precious funds on licensing it if they didn't intend to make money off a dvd release.

It would be nice to see a sports show actually sell well for a change.

I just saw the dub too on Toonami Jetstream and the voice acting was never bad. Smile I can recommend the dub.

I never saw the original Japanese dub; but the people who voiced the characters really did a good job (same with *MAR & Hikaru no Go).

WTH? Is this The Twilight Zone? People actually like the dubs? Not one person has given the irrational reason of "they don't sound like the original voices so it sucks"? What's going on? Where am I? Twisted Evil

ROFL

Probably because this isn't Bleach or Naruto so fanbase is more niche (and *Gasp* mature?!?) so people are genuinely happy to see a WELL DONE DUB*

*well done may not suit your ideas of how the voice should sound but say you never saw the show before and you can deem the acting good and voices appropriate. That is good dub jah?

The Japanese cast is one of my favorite casts for any show, so it's possible I was expecting much worse from The Prince of Tennis.

I say it's not a dub to replace the original, but it's definitely watchable.

Someone earlier commented that there's something wrong with the voices of Sakuno, and the coach (forgot her name). After seeing ep. 1, I have to agree.

Otherwise, the dub is indeed good.

Whether it's their downplay in the second episode, I'm not sure, but they're much less noticably annoying or offkey in the second episode. Not that I found Sakuno's voice to be annoying anyway.

Horio's voice is perfect, and they did cast Wendee Lee as the female magazine reporter (so her back and forth with Sakuno was awkward...). We'll finally get to hear the rest of the Seigaku regulars next episode.

Poor Arai-kun. He's not so bad once you get to know him...

I don't care about the american voices acting. As long as they're good. I was hoping that the Bleach VA wouldn't be so bad. I wonder what Ichigo's voice would sound like.

P.S. While I was watching a Rurouni Kenshin fansub, I just heard Kenshin's voice and it was terrible. I mean, his Japanese voice sounded like a 12-year-old. However, the other Japanese voices weren't so bad.

{Off-Topic: Where did you get that image?}

I'm wondering if Johnny Yong Bosch can pull it off as well as Masakazu Morita. I always hear that happy go lucky Vash in his voice, and most of us know that Ichigo doesn't have a Vash personality. We'll just wait and see how this turns out.

I have yet to hear the Prince of Tennis dub, though. Is it already on Cartoon Network?

In regards to Johnny Yong Bosch doubting, all I have to say is "oh ye of little faith." I think he can and will do an awesome job, professional VAs are capable of dynamic voice acting and many different characters.

And no PoT isn't on CN, just the toonami jetstream. Same w/ Hikaru.

I like using custom images via Teh Interweb. Sports boards are great places to find them. I can PM you the link if needed.

The funny thing about the voices is I posted what I did, I wrote an article on it, yet I have yet to watch any episodes of it . . . I've been too busy!

I think that some people aren't complaining about how bad the dub is because they have yet to compare it to the original Japanese version (like me). I don't know how Ginta in MAR sounds in Japanese, nor Hikaru in HnG, nor Echizen in PoT. But Sai's voice in HnG does sound a bit sketchy. He sounds like a 40 year-old woman. I don't think that's how the original, Japanese Sai sounded.

We're getting kind of OT for a topic called "prince of tennis dub", aren't we? Oh well.

As far as Sakuno is concerned, I actually don't care if her voice is a little lame, because in my reading of the manga up through vol. 13 she's pretty unimportant. Unless in vol. 14 she suddenly becomes really good at tennis and starts challenging the boys' team to matches. Not.
