The small amount of games in 15 years feels so shallow for the west... The skipping over of Destiny 2 made me feel so empty along with a number of others (Hearts, Rebirth, Innocence, World/Narikiri Dungeon, the other Radiant Mythologies, etc...). At least they "fixed" the fact that Eternia is not Destiny II

Also found it amusing that they used the magenta Symphonia title instead of the original blue, which was found with the Japanese PS2 release only.

Not surprised to see the over emphasis of Abyss and Vesperia.

Hoping Bandai Namco starts giving us more titles as it just feels so empty having these "other characters" appear in the Tales games yet not bringing over the games they're actually from. Not to mention that Xillia limited edition pre-orders are selling fast.

Now if they'd only actually release Phantasia in the West. And all the others they skipped.

Kind of two months late? I saw this same exact trailer at Wondercon....

But you can really see how many releases they skipped over... I just wish Namco would stop hogging the rights for the games they don't want to bring over themselves and let Atlus or NIS do it...

Its called the Gameboy Advanced. They did release Phantasia.

But I do have to take a cynical view and say, thanks for a video, how about releasing some of those unreleased games instead.

Er, not really? If I counted correctly, that was 11 games, so that's pretty close to an average of 1 a year . That only looks bad compared to games that actually DO get a yearly releases, like Call of Duy and, uh, can anyone name one that's been doing it for 15 years straight (U.S. releases, that is)? Sports games don't count. Pokemon probably comes out to at least a game a year if you count all of the spin-offs and each game separately (i.e. you count Gold and Silver as separate releases).

Only way we're getting any of the past games they skipped is if they get new ports, most likely console ports. With the Vita seemingly on life support in the U.S., I wouldn't count on any of those happening (though it's *possible*, just very unlikely).

On the other hand, there's a rumor that Symphonia is getting an HD port for the PS3 and that it will get released here. I'm very skeptical of that myself, but it could happen, so, uh, look forward to maybe getting that again, I guess.

I do wish they would have released some of the PSP or PS2 ports back when those were viable platforms though.

Celebrating 15 years of the Tales series in the west when many of the Tales hasn't been release in the west. If it was Final Fantasy, that would make more sense.

It may seem worse than it really is because, of those, 7 have been available on Sony platforms, 3 on Nintendo platforms, and 1 on a Microsoft platform, while the Japanese had a lot more ports available. So people tend to discount the games brought over onto platforms they don't have.

Vita is getting Dragon's Crown, Muramasa Rebirth, Ys Celetia, Valhalla Knights 3, Ragnarock Odyssey Plus or S, and Soul Sacrifice just game out. For a list of rpgs we get this year, that is actually not that bad.

Amazon still has them... Gamestop I know is long gone and EU is also long gone. Couple retail stores have them if you actually go in and ask. Whether this becomes another Fire Emblem Awakening ordeal on release day is another issue.

Actually, I own all the US released ones plus EU Eternia. The only exception is Abyss 3DS, which I'm hoping to pick up cheap since nothing really changed from the PS2 releases. I do, however, physically own all the Japanese released ones to date (remakes and ports included but excluding mobile). I don't own a 360 though so Vesperia Premium Edition is still shrink-wrapped...Regardless, I certainly agree with your point. Point I'm trying to make is, sometimes when I look at my stack and compare number of distinct titles, my US pile cries a bit.

As for the Symphonia Perfect Edition (if actually true), I'm hoping they completely overhaul the linear battle system for the first game as that was mostly a test for what eventually came in Abyss and Vesperia as well as overhaul the dumb "cap old Tales characters at level 50" mechanic. An Innocence R or Hearts R like remake is certainly most welcome and obviously would not be the first time Namco has overhauled a title (see Destiny Director's Cut and Vesperia PS3). Best scenario is they actually make Symphonia 1 and 2 into a completely continuous game. Guaranteed to sell considering how much of a joke Dawn of the New World was by itself.

In the mid-2000s, Namco Japan was notorious for releasing 2-4 Tales games in a year, 1-2 of which were usually flagship titles and the others were significant upgrades/overhauls to previous games (see PSP Destiny 2, Destiny Remake + Director's Cut, Symphonia PS2) or escort titles like the various World titles.

Radiant Mythology and Dawn of the New World are generally not considered flagship titles in the Tales community as they aren't "full games." So you get 9 major titles which is 1 title every 1.5 years, which sounds right.

I'm not asking for them to release at the same pace as Japan or even 1 per year but rather don't wait 2 years after the initial Japanese release to localize it. Had the PS4 come out last year, we may very well never have gotten Graces F or Xillia.

No one considers that version to even be remotely acceptable. It's not the Phantasia anyone wanted. So no, that one doesn't count.
