Oh man, this manga certainly has become the talk of the year now along with the anime so not too surprised about this.

It's been looking very, very good in Amazon Japan preorder rankings.

I guess I'm the only person that felt betrayed when they did the genre swapped in "episode 7" (cant remember the manga chapter) spoiler[Started off as a very unique sci-fi then very quickly turned into a shounen anime in a matter for seconds when Eren transformed. I wouldn't mind this so much if I knew before hand I was going to be reading a shounen, my least favorite genre instead the sci-fi it started as---] ---It felt like a bait a switch >.<, it's still very good but I did feel tricked and felt it was pretty lame how they solved the dilemma.

Shounen is not a genre, its a bloody demographic. Also this dilemma is far from solved.

I also feel the twist in episode 7 made me less interested in the show. To be fair, their were plenty of shounen elements there already such as the main character and the training camp episodes.

What do you guys expect? It's published in a shounen magazine. It's hardly a 'bait-and-switch'.

As much as I grow tired of hearing people complain and bitch about shonen and mistaking it for a genre, I'm not really that surprised that this has been doing well since this fits that whole "DARK, VIOLENT, NO MOE MOE KYUUN SHIT N' STUFF" feeling that I here a good number of anime fans go on and on about from 'the old days'. While I'm not really that far in the manga I always knew that spoiler[Eren would be able to turn into a titan] from a spoiler, and so I was curious and somewhat eager to see how some of the viewers would react to that. If anything this anime is entertaining in just the way some people react to it.

Good for the manga. It works a a shonen battle manga(which it was from the start) because it still has a rich narative as backdrop and the the recent suprise twists in the manga were hinted on early on. Keep on reading because it doesn´t turn into a shonen jump knockoff as some of you fear. But to be fair i was also worried for a bit.

In completely unrelated news, the dudes from Shueisha who ignored Attack on Titan are one step closer to a horrible end.

Yeah because it's not like half the manga in their lineup make more money than it, and their new series AssClass performing better in it's first year than SnK. You [insult removed]?

You mad, bro ? I'm a fantard, yet, you feel the need to insult me because I made fun of Shueisha, ya know ?

I made a simple statement that they said NO to a lot of easy money. I don't even like anything that Kodansha or Shueisha are involved with.

Edit: Oops, I like Claymore. So make that almost anything.

But they're still making easy money which is why they're the among the top publishers in Japan. Your logic dictates that they have to see into the future. Rolling Eyes

Really? People are sad that it turned into a shounen manga? That is weird, because it always WAS a shounen manga. Just because there weren't any super-powers (at first), doesn't mean it wasn't shounen.
