Maybe a bit nit-picky, but ...
Quote: | Mizuki Yamamoto wil play an original character, a maid named Lin. Rin serves the family of Shiori Genpō ...
The character draws inpiration from a similarly clumsy maid named Meirin ... |
wil -> will
inpiration -> inspiration
Is the character named Lin or Rin?

It's not yet 2014 here on Earth.

eeeeeeeeeee awesome! Meirin is one of my favorite characters~ I wonder if this early announcement means Lin will have a bigger role in the film than Meirin does in the original?
(also it's (c)2014 because it's coming out in 2014, right?)

Apparently Cinematographic works are protected for "only" 70 years in Japan (vs. 95 years in the U.S.), so those poor deprived corporations need ever year they can get.
You are correct, of course. The copyright for published works in Japan is based on the date of publication, not creation.

A character named Rin who's a total klutz. Yeah, she's very original.

I've got a feeling that sooner or later either Hollywood or the British are going to their own versions of "Black Butler." This would be right up the Brit's alley because it's set in their country. I can easily imagine people like Simon Pegg,Benedict Cumberbatch,or David Tennant starring in something like that.
I can also imagine a Hollywood version of this in which Sebastian Michaels ends up as a butler to the American branch of the Phantomhive family. I wouldn't be surprised if either of those things come to pass.

Looks like it's trying to be a bit like season 2.

Yeah, because the story is totally marketed to mainstream US audiences.
(As much as I would love to see Benedict Cumberbatch play William... <3 )
