How often does 'new titles' get added to the enclopedia?

Just a question out of curiosity since i imagine it only happens 2-3 times a year due to the vast backlog.

Two to three times a year? This is a news site. Updating things two to three times a year just wouldn't cut it. Really, it's a constant process. Regular users like you and me can submit new titles, then they have to be approved by Encyclopedia staff. It's a slow process due to the large amount of anime that exists.

Actually, the slowness of the process is due to users submitting titles that don't belong or are already in the Encyclopedia. We have to research each submission to make sure it's valid, and that takes time. So each incorrect submission (and there are a lot) means that correct submissions will get added that much later.

So if people were to research the Encyclopedia to make sure the title is or isn't in the encyclopedia, then you might be able to get more work done?

If you want to submit a new anime title, there is half a page of explantion. The first paragraph reads :
Quote:
Main title
This is the main title by which the anime/manga is known. [...] Please make sure that this new title is not present elsewhere in the database under an alternate name.

I suppose mistakes are made when an already existing anime has only a japanese title, and not enough information for the user to know it's the same as his new entry. Understandble, and this can be corrected by posting the duplicate titles in the forum.
However, I get the impression that some users don't even try to check for already existing information (I keep it general as this is also the case for new companies, new staff, etc.).

The ANN staff spend much time in cheking and correcting the information. This takes more time that we would like, but it also makes the ANN more reliable, and I appreciate that.

Ok thanks for the awnsers.

I was just curious as i've made quite a few submissions over the last 2-3 months, mainly for missing 80's anime.

Wow, you guys sure are working!

I'm seriously surprised such an obvious title like the Fullmetal Alchemist OAV isn't listed yet as probably most hardcore FMA fans have already seen the oav at youtube.

I submitted almost a year ago the Zenki manga (which is a manga I personally like a lot because of the art), and still it isn't listed. ¬¬

There's a ton of Crayon Shin-chan movies that aren't listed in ANN.
