Well, I guess I am crazy enough because I really enjoyed Speed Grapher when I watched it on the fansub and I plan on buying all of the DVDs. I can't wait to see how Christopher Sabat does playing Saiga (awesome casting).

What there was that much sex in the first few episodes? I don't even really remember that, I guess it has been such a long time since it first air. Do I remember there being some violence in the show, but I wonder if it was that much?
I had a chance to check out this box at Funimation's booth at AX and damn it is beautiful. I seriously can't wait for mine to show up now, from what Tony K. had mention to me it like LE Boogiepop phatom where it the dvd fit under a case. I am so excitied to see how this thing looks on my shelf.
Till next time,

Speed Grapher was touched up for its DVD release. There's a bit more nudity and nearly every episode had some kind of sex scene or explicit dialogue. And yeah, every episode I saw had some violent decapitation or something in it. I'm not sure what the TV broadcast was like, but in this release there's gallons of blood.
They also drop a whole lot of F-bombs.

This makes me feel like picking it up, but the review doesn´t...
But there is something about blowing stuff up with cameras that doesn´t get my attention.

Ok wow that makes more sense now, I was thinking that I was loosing my mind (it bound to happen) sooner then I expected. I know that the club had some scene where things were going on in the background.
The TV broadcast I remember being like a rated R version of James Bond, whereas you know the person was dead but there was definetly blood to go along with it, nothing along the line of Elfen Lied.
I think that I do remember some F-Bombs (Augh My geometry teacher once gave me a referral for supposely dropping 6 F-bombs in a sentence. Is that even possible?) going off during the show, because it is a show for adults. And us adult love that F-word, what a great word you can say the first letter and everyone knows what your saying.

Did I enter the Twilight Zone or something? The review doesn't make you want to pick it up, but the reviewer talking about a part of it does.............DO DO DO DO DO DO (TWILIGHT ZONE)
Till next time,

Edit: Am I the only person who thinks this title is kinda weird? I mean Speed Grapher sounds like a story of a kid who make graph really fast or something.

eh dont be fooled by the review of the first dvd
I've seen all the eps and its a really good series after all. in my opinion, speed grapher has the best villian.
The main theme in this show is money cannot buy happieness.

it seems this is a rather bias review to me, where the reviewer hasn't really given the show a fair chance. i liked this show a lot. Also,

criticizing an anime for being "silly"? er...you might not like 99% of Anime then. last time i checked anime was never intended to be realistic.

From what I can remember about this title, the TV version was edited.
Get off his back, guys. This is a review of volume 1 after all and not the whole series.

Umm what.....Lots of anime is based on realistic events, or are very serious in nature.

well i guess i have really lousy taste, cause i liked Speed Grapher. sure it was cheesy, but it was fun to watch. i think people should rent it and judge for themselves before making any assumptions. it really isn't that bad.

I agree with you, except for the ending which wasn't bad but didn't have everything I wanted this series is definetly worth a rent.

I had a chance to sample some of the dub, and I have to say it was good. This is the first role of Sabat I really like, though I haven't heard much in general beyond his roles as half the cast of the DB franchise (which I definitely didn't like) and Armstrong from FMA (which is decent), but I like this one a lot.
He just sounds natural and not overbearing or forcefully booming like his other roles I've heard. I even heard a small, melancholy crack in his voice from the little casting cut in the extras, which fits extremely well for Saiga's character. That, in my mind, is the kind of voice that suits him best, and I hope he keeps using it.
Haven't had much time to sample anything else yet, but I will say this is the VERY FIRST role of Monica Rial I like. Yes, as much as I hate ADV dubs and give them a hard time, I feel she was well casted for the role of Kagura. I'm telling you, if ADV would just get better directors and stop putting all of their English tracks into 5.1 to drain the voices and music out, it wouldn't be as bad as I've come to make it.
Anyway, I love the packaging for the box and DVD case. It's very sleek, and I saw about half the series through fansubs before stopping and liked a lot of what I saw enough to keep collecting the rest. The adult themes are a nice change of pace from a lot of the other stuff I've seen in recent years.

I figured the DVD versions would have more violence and nudity. In the broadcast version, when Kaiga killed people with his camera, there was always a big poof of smoke blocking the deaths. I figured that was something intended as a sort of editing and that the DVD version wouldn't have it. Are they still there in the version you saw?
Anyhow, I really enjoyed Speed Grapher when I saw it fansubbed and I've ordered the first two DVDs. I hope the reviewer will watch the rest of the series. I didn't find the early episodes that silly, but the series definitely gets better around the half-way point or shortly after.
