The Irresponsible Captain Tylor OVAs are listed as one series:
anime#87
But they are are actually two series.

The first OVA is the two part Tylor's War (An Exceptional episode parts 1 &2) and it was made not long after the TV series ended. The character desgins are consistent with the orginal anime. The two episodes tell one complete story, and I believe that is the one that the synopsis is refering too.

The second OVA was made years later, and consists of 8 episodes. The character desgins and music are noticably different from the previous OVA and TV series. The stories in this OVA are sequels to the previous anime, but are separate.

The three-volume "Captain Tylor" OVA collection cannot rightly be called a single series, because it is actually comprised of two independent story arcs with drastic differences in tone and visual style.

Thank You!

I tried proving this also awhile ago, but no one allowed me to state my case.

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I'd like to point out something. The Wolf's Rain OVA is listed as a separate entry to the Wolf's Rain TV series, even though they both have the same character designs, same staff, and the OVA continues the story of the TV series. Yet the two Tylor OVAs are listed as one, despite the differences in Staff, character design and storyline.

The only reason why I can see you listing the two Tylor OVAs together is because Rightstuff tends to refer to them as one OVA. But guess what? Bandai doesn't exactly scream out "This is the Wolf's Rain OVA!" either.

Arg. And to think that we actually had them as two separate entries before and they got merged... Sad

I'm not sure what to do about it. The entries need to be unmerged but that's going to be difficult. Does the data look like it's mostly from the first OVAs or the second OVAs?

It looks like it's mostly from the first OVA, though the image looks like it's from the second.
