They're just holding this announcement until one of the big upcoming Cons because we know they're going to get the license and we know they'll also do some sort of limited theatrical run as well so really the only thing we're waiting for if the official announcement

Yeah, if Funi is going to be doing a theater run this year they'll probably be holding off until Comic-con or Anime Expo for the announcement.

I bet they'll tie it in with November's Supanova events, so keen!

Reel Anime is usually in the capitals around August-September, so I'd expect the dates for the capital cities to be around that timeframe. Not sure about the Gold Coast. Shame that they couldn't get it in time for the Pop Culture weekend with Supanova, the Evangelion exhibition and the Gold Coast Film Festival all at once.

I'm just wondering if they're gonna show the movie with English subs, or they have already dubbed it to English?

I could be wrong, but I haven't heard anything about the dub being recorded yet. Madman usually screen the Japanese Language version anyway. Three years ago at 2010 Reel Anime, they screened Eva 1.0 in Japanese despite the dub being available at the time. On the other hand, when a Ghibli movie has screened, there have been English and Japanese screenings when both tracks have been recorded at the time.

as for 3.0 having a theatrical run in the states, im hoping it happens sooner rather than later, it will happen at some point. those ausies will get it a few months after the initial japanese release, lucky them.

A few months after the initial JP release? 3.33 is a week out from its DVD release, the cinema run was in Japan last year.
