The fact that it's restricted to the US and Canada, and that its only for premium members makes it sound like something's up. Maybe it's some kind of shared simulcast deal?

Or maybe it's Viz, considering they have the manga.

The geography definitely suggests a sublicense. Funi's never shared before to the best of my knowledge while Sentai typically gets larger areas and hasn't in the past imposed a similar restriction. Viz definitely seems the most likely candidate at this juncture.

Yeah, judging by the description and provided picture, this even sounds and looks like something VIZ would go after.

I don't know if it was a typo or whatever, but Arata is no longer just for premium members.

Could have been a typo ~ could have been a rider to the contract negotiated at the last minute and the original terms shared with the author of the post. Seems more likely to be Viz than Funimation or Sentai ~ since Funimation has never yet streamed one of their licenses to Crunchyroll and Sentai has been picking up broader contract regions. |

Hope it's not for premium members only. Not that I have any problem with finding alternative ways but...
It bugs me to no end when Crunchy does that... I watch their ad's{Even while knowing a way around them} that should be enough. |

I'm really glad this was announced. I've been buying the manga, and it's an entertaining fantasy adventure. (--And the protagonist is not anywhere near as annoying as previous *cough*Miaka*cough* Watase Yuu protags)

Its pretty unlikely that it Crunchyroll who does that, don't you think? Its a lot more likely to be the licensor setting terms more restrictive than Crunchyroll would prefer. |

Yeah. strange choice. He looks too ... perky. A word I would never use to describe that particular character. LOL. |
