Gurren fans will be very happy, it would be nice if they actually went and dubbed the two movies though.

Since I already have an open order with Amazon.com.jp for this series it appears it may be in my best interest to pre-order AofA next week and cancel that order instead. Kudos for the news, ANN and A of A. Usually, my luck is the reverse on US releases from Japan: pay a lot of money for the Japanese shipped direct release then watch the Japan-approved US distribution appear 1-2 months after that fact.

I wouldn't count on it for oreimo it actually was cheaper to import it yourself.and they literally aren't doing anything other then importing it. how much more pathetic can you get for an R1 anime company.

Cue pricing bitchfest crapstorm in . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . GO.
But seriously, there better not be any pricing discussion since price was not even mentioned in the article.

Considering the mods shut it down in the other interminable thread, I'd think twice before starting it back up here. If you like posting privileges, anyway.

The imported version is only the Blu-Ray set. The DVDs are AofA produced. Sub only in either case.

Very happy to see Gurren rescued. I never bought the series the first time around and I'm glad they'll be a blu-ray option.

Did anyone at the convention ask if Aniplex would be releasing Nekomonogatari (Black)?

I don't know if anyone did (sadly, I didn't make the Aniplex panel), but I can guarantee you it wouldn't have done any good if they had. Rule #1 of every single industry panel is 'we can't say anything about anything except the stuff we're telling you about'. It does no good to ask if Yen Press is going to release <favorite>, or if Crunchyroll is picking up <foo> from the new season for streaming, or if Aniplex is releasing Nekomonogatari - if they haven't officially announced it, they're not going to take a random Q&A question as their opportunity to do so.

There is reason why we shouldn't buy anime DVD or Blu-ray out of impulse. You will never have enough money for something worth buying.

The TTGL DVD and Blu-Ray sets from AoA are actually imports of the Japanese sets, released at the same time as the Japanese sets are released. These sets are not aimed at those fans who just want to own the show; the old DVD release is there for those who want it. No, these sets are being offered to those fans who want to collect the show. We know such fans exist because we know they buy these sorts of releases. Those fans are happy, AoA is happy, and anyone who doesn't want to buy these doesn't have to. So why are you raising your blood pressure when there's absolutely no reason to? You're getting all upset over absolutely nothing.
The ban on pricing discussion is not censorship. No-one to my knowledge has even lost their posting privileges for breaking the ban or talking too much about AoA, so I don't see why you would get so up in arms and promise that you'll make a new account when there's no reason to. The ban on pricing discussion is to stop the same old self-entitled complainers from coming in to every AoA thread - whether relevant to pricing or not - and launch the usual nasty insults and spout the same old misinformed, close-minded rhetoric.

There has not been a regular BD release of Gurren Lagann, only the high priced collector's BD LE. I have no problem with collectors getting such a nice package, but I also have no problem with people complaining there is no regular BD release, (you know, one without posters, postcards, and other material extras). Especially with all the nice shows AoA will be putting out.
I wonder if the AoA panel actually had a question and answer session.
