I bought this series on a whim ($25 for the 8-dvd box set, brand new) and have only watched the first few epz, looks good, I've heard good things mostly except that the animation quality apparently goes downhill at the end.

Any non-spoiler opinionz?

You don't want any spoilers so that makes things difficult.

Anyway, Neo Ranga used to air on The Anime Network. People complained that the show was so bad and it got kicked off the network. Why? Don’t know, but from my perspective, the same thing happens in every episode and the fight scenes are pathetic and slow. When Neo Ranga was first released, it was good only because it was unique, but now they are so many other animes that’s better than Neo Ranga so it sucks.

Although, since you bought it already I would just see it amd maybe sell it on ebay once you are done with it. If you like it, then keep it.

Anime Network huh? Each area has a different lineup of shows, station used to rock when I first got it, now it's broke as a joke. 7 girly-shows with only Full Metal Panic to balance it out....

my anime network focusses soly on action. Even the girly shows are really action related. Slayers, Devil hunter Yohko Kaleido Stage, and New Wings. New Wings is suppose to be a sequel to Kaleido stage or not I don't know. It' just related.

(I guess going OT isn't a big deal here)

Yea New Wings I saw but I dunno how I feel kaleido was too uber cutesy for me, altho entertaining enough for me to watch 8 episodes.

How is devil hunter? We don't have that one.

*misses seeing new eps of cromartie high every few weeks*

Devil Hunter Yohko:Slaughtering of demons and weird magical weapons. Also, the hero is a heroine that is big breasted. Female aspects, main characters are sexy girls that kick ass. Everyone especially girls like a show where only girls kick ass and the men don't. Also, you have the love cycles, mainly the one where a girl is trying to get the perfect boyfriend.

It's intresting since it focuses more on action than relationships

This is indeed a series which is hard to describe without spoilers since the dynamics change. I bought the thinpak when it came out, and still regret having bought it. The music is my favorite part of the series. The animation didn't do it for me from the start, so I'm not sure if it really goes down hill. If it is strange high school girls with mysterious familiars and powers (and fanservice too) your looking for I would suggest Mai-Hime. There really are a bunch of other shows that do the Ranga thing well.

I enjoyed the show despite the changes of pace/plot and the varying animation quality. The animation starts off good, then gets quite bad but it does recover a little after that. I think it deserves watching all the way through - I don't think it would be spoiling things too much to say it gets quite dark in the final episodes.

I own it and enjoyed it; I didn't really notice a change in quality with the animation.

Neo Ranga isn't supposed to be a giant robot/mecha action show. It's pretty much about politics and eccentric family struggles. There's some decent action thrown in is all.

I bought the think pak of this show as well, on a whim. Although I can't say it was one of my favorite shows, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I think the key to enjoying it is to realize it is not an 'action show', it's actually more like a slice-of-life show with a giant god that sometimes fights other giant gods. Mostly its just about the girl's lives and how having Ranga around changes them and how they deal with the situations that arise. Anyway, it's not super-duper or anything, but I enjoyed it while I was watching it.

As for the animation, I did notice that it got really... weird for episodes 41 and 42.. but that was all. It was strange, the style completely changed JUST for those two episodes. I don't know what was up with that.

And on a semi-side-note: spoiler[It pissed me off that the girls never really wore those outfits from the openings or wielded those giant weapons. That would have been awesome. Say what you like about the series itself, it's openers are AWESOME. Smile Also, was anyone else aggravated by the fact that Yuuhi was a psychotic who was continually trying to murder people with Ranga, and her sister's reaction was always "Hahaha, Yuupi you rascal!" instead of "We should get our sister serious psychiatric help."? I know she kinda redeemed herself at the end, but seriously: everyone took her homocidal tendancies way too lightly!]
