Hmm, I'm not 100% sure on this but the promo video seemed alright. Well, it has a nice cast of VA in this so might check it out.

The background art, character designs, music and tone in general remind me of Madoka Magica. So I guess this is suppose to be one of those new shows influenced by PMMM that everybody was expecting?
I am wondering who director will be and which studio.

The character designs have an almost overbearing, undaunted cuteness and wish that they were at least older adolescents, but the rest of the art and tone of the video have a darker, more badass feel. I concede, that juxtaposition alone is enough to make me curious. At lot of it has a pronounced darkness, but it's not morose or, some of the musical cues notwithstanding, heavy handed. I think that I might take a liking to the blonde with the red and blue wings.
Color me intrigued. I'm probationarily optimistic about this one.

Reminds me of Disgaea's art style.

Was going to say this too
That juxtaposition Surrender Artist mentions is a lot like Disgaea as well. I hope it's on the more serious and badass end of the scale, those night time magic attacks looked pretty cool.

I thought Symphogear was the first of those. I have a feeling The Magical Girl subgenre will continue its upward spike in quality not only with the new Sailor Moon anime, but hopefully Prism Nana, and of course the upcoming Madoka Movie and TV Series. >
