Yeah, I'll definitely skip this release. I can already get low quality and hardsubbed video files, or stream it, so I see little benefit to rewarding a company for providing an even lower level of service. Hardsubbing on DVDs is inexcusable, let alone cramming close to four hours of video onto each disc.
And there is no "try again next time" here. You mess up a big title, you're done, forever. A blight on your brand! Don't reply saying "what about dere jawwwwbs ECONOMYYY". People need to learn from their mistakes, and that means losing a job or getting fired for incompetency. |

Gah, it's like, they kinda sorta fixed the ugly cover issue, but I feel like they should've learned something from Bobobo. Clearly they did not, perhaps these people should not be making DVDs.
At least Discotek has the movies, and Fist of the North Star, and Captain Harlock (and other things I'm forgetting to mention because there is too much awesome to list it all right now), and they do awesomely. I think S'More should've peeked over their shoulder a little harder. |

I emailed S'more Ent. in regards to the 2nd set delay and got this response:

I hope they're not surprised by poor sales. You release a sub-par set, that's what happens. I'm even more glad that I didn't buy the first set now, if they're waffling over releasing the rest.

It's unfortunate that they're getting the message of "no demand" rather than "bad release"
I did buy their release, and I do want a permanent copy of the show, but at the same time, I really wish that they had done a better job with it... Their current release is merely a hedge against Crunchyroll taking their version down, whereas, a proper quality DVD release could replace the Crunchyroll version entirely. |

I am very annoyed. They shouldn't mess with people's hearts.

TRSI has removed the listing for Galaxy Express 999 (TV) Part 2 (http://www.rightstuf.com/i/089353707927).

Well, there is no demand for an awful release. Hopefully they lose the license and someone competent like Discotek can grab it up and give the series the release fans deserve.

well, if they don't plan to complete the show I guess that solves the dilemma on whether or not to get the first part...

What a waste of a good license. I really hope this doesn't scare off one of the better companies from doing the show properly. Fingers crossed that by the time Discotek finishes Captain Harlock, the GE999 license is up for grabs again.

Miracles don't happen twice I wouldn't bet on anyone else picking up something so old that was given a chance to sell and didn't. |

how old it was is completely irrelevant in this instance. It's more about what they attempted to get away with.
from WTK's earlier post "38 eps on 4 dvds, a pdf file for the scripts. burned in subtitles. no dub, etc.," If and when it ever gets picked up and receives a proper release I will buy it. Until then there's always the backlog... |

It would be interesting to have a poll about whether people genuinely would have bought it had the release been different. (Would a dub really have made a difference to the old-time anime fans this release would be for? I really doubt that.) |

I would have bought it immediately had it been done right. The only thing stopping me from preordering it was this company's track record, and I don't regret not purchasing it.
