Warning: Anyone can post. No Spoilers, None, Not even blacked out ones. Let me Clarifiy. no Spoilers for future episodes is what I mean, Talk about what happened in this show and the ones that came before all you want. Sorry for the confusion.

I was wondering peoples impressions of the new episode of Naruto? That's it, simple question. I am especially interested in the opinions of those who the show is new too, but anyone is welcome of course. Very Happy

Ok this one dissapointed me here. I admit I was pumped up. I even wrote the click in a post, Quote:

The Click wrote:
Rock Lee, eager to defend Sakura and her incapacitated teammates from the deadly Sound Village Ninjas, reacquaints said Ninjas' faces with the ground.

I wrote:
The Click, you definitely have a writting pair. Well said.

Only there was much less of this than I had hoped for. It ended last night and I said to myself(really I said this out loud), "This is nothing more than DBZ with more production values". It is sad because I do find the story to be a good one, that is all I will say for now. Your thoughts?

Oh, and I know there were new Inuyasha, and Stand Alone Complex. However they have a very long track record. So mine and most others opinion of them are pretty firm. But if you can't resist, go for it.

Haha, just you wait . . .

(Be prepared for more: they really milk the manga storyline out throughout the series with flashbacks, flashbacks of flashbacks, and extended sequences of "not much happening." Once they reach the filler episodes, it is less of that and a better pace--but the stories aren't quite up to snuff. You hit the nail on the head by saying it's like DBZ.)

I actually consider Naruto "The New Generation's DBZ". But then again I used to watch DBZ, so I have been watching Naruto. But why do I watch? The fight scenes, even though it does take a couple of episodes to off an enemy... sound familiar? If I had anything better to watch, specially if it's free, I probably would. But there is only so much you can do on a Saturday when you're a college student that doesn't qualify for financial aid.

I thought the Rock Lee episode was better than most episodes. It actually had a good fight scene. And it's nice change from Sasuke's constant flame jutsu, Naruto's shadow clone jutsu, and Sakura's.... Sakura's... uhm... standing around.

Truthfully, Cartoon Network has a little ways to go before the series really gets more interesting. That part of the series was probably the one I actually didn't care all too much for because I'm not a big "Sakura fan". Give it a couple more episodes, and then it'll get really good, the fight scenes are absolutely gorgeous.

Now that you claim that this series is much like DBZ, actually, Masashi Kishimoto was (and probably still is), a big Dragon Ball/DBZ fan. You can see how much of Akira's work inspired him in Naruto, so yeah, you're right about it being similar to DBZ.

Truthfully though, as much as you guys are saying it's repetative as hell, InuYasha has it beat because nothing in that show ever happened. I refuse to watch the fillers for Naruto because I don't want them to lower my liking for this series, so I won't. But anyway, Naruto does get repetative, but trust me, I've seen far worse. They age, not so much in InuYasha, where Kagome is still in middle school and Kikyo comes back to life constantly.

-edit: Sorry about the Spoiler thing, I kinda just started writing. I'll take them out.

I also heard it does get a lot better. One of my friends even said that he bagan watching at episode 50 something and he really liked it. He said he gave the first couple episodes a try, but they sucked but that the tournament style fighting was the best part of the series.

You lost me when you compared it to Inuyasha because I don't consider these two series to have anything in common. And the fact that I hate Inuyasha because of the vast amount of episodes and chunks in the "story" where nothing gets advanced bore me to death. But I must admit I am a huge fan of the movies. there is something different about them, I'm thinking it's the actual sense of closure and not the feeling that the enemy will be back in a couple of episodes.

But back to the Naruto thing, I really can't wait for the fights, but I hope they're not fights that last forever. Even the DB/DBZ tournaments, not including Cell, had 1 or 2 episode bouts. But I guess I must wait and see.

And you didn't read the first post about absolutely there being NO SPOILERS. That information about the Hokages and "time" more than qualify as spoilers.

I agree with the inuyasha comment, having seen Naruto up to 182 I can see where people are getting tired of the filler stories that don't move the main story along at all. I don't really think it's as bad as the whole Freeza saga from DBZ Episode ## Freeza defeated! Episode ### Gokus last stand! Episode ## Freeza, finally beaten! Episode ### Goku on the attack! Episode ### Goku and Freeza, battle to the death! Episode ## Goku and Freeza...taking a break Episode ### Round 2 Goku and Freeza Back at it again! Episode ### God damn isn't this over yet? Episode ### Seriously...someone needs to die here. (these arn't the actual titles but you get my drift....)

I have to agree with this. I actually found Naruto (the character) to be super annoying when I first watched Naruto and almost stopped watching because of it. Now I'm glad I stuck with it.

The reason I like Naruto so much is because the anime takes its sweet time, thereby allowing the viewer to develop a connection with the character(s). Once the characters develop a little more, the storyline will seem more appealing, even if it's just filler episodes. At least that's the way it was with me. I don't mind the fillers one bit. Like I always say, better something than nothing at all.

I actually did stop watching it after the first couple of episodes. I watched the first twelve just out of respect for my brother who wanted me to, and then I quit. I started Gundam SEED after those episodes, but one day my Gundam SEED DVD's wouldn't work for some reason (it was a day off from school and I tried for 9 hours straight to get it to work), so I turned on my brother's Naruto DVD's out of pure boredom. It was the Sasuke and Haku fight, and since then I've loved Naruto.

As for Naruto just being DBZ with better production values, I think in a way it is. It does drag out alot of the fights and storyline but someone has already provided a possible answer as to why this is.

I feel that that prettygirl's view on this is the same reason why so many people out there love Naruto today.

Either you enjoy shonen fighting anime or you don't. If you enjoy them, then Naruto's one of the better ones out there. If you don't, well then why complain about how this shonen fighting anime doesn't suit your tastes?

Are you implying that there is only one way for a shonen fighting anime to progress? That seems kinda narrow minded.

Also let me make something clear, I used to watch DB, DBZ, and a little GT, and yes they are by far not the best things ever made, but they can be very entertaining. However, at the same time they can be very frustrating. And am guessing that is what many are feeling. If they did 12 minutes new, 12 minutes same ole same ole, I don't think many would voice out, but this last one really seemed to be like 7/17.

I will keep watching Naruto because I really like the story, and I will enjoy it, and be frustrated all the same.

I have been snooping around and everyone seems to love the manga. I am strictly a anime guy so far and know nothing about manga(yes I do know what many of the terms mean, but thats it). I was seriously thinking I might start, and where better than Naruto. Do I just go get Volume One, or is there a certain series I need to look for? As in are there more than one volume 1's?

The manga is WAY ahead of what you guys in the states are seeing. You guys havn't even finished the forest events from what I understand, that's at least 150 chapters off.

The Naruto manga is a good one, and is in a single continuous run (unlike, say, Trigun/Trigun:Maximum). It's up to 30-some volumes in Japan, up to Chapter 304. The US release is at like volume 9 or so I think. Still, it's cheaper to collect than the show, and both can be found online if you care to look.
