browsing around in the top ten lists, i found this anime called Monster, which sounds very interesting...however i have to wonder a few things...

1) is it really worth 74 episodes? do they drag?

2) is it one of those animes that looks like rugrats? how's tha art?

3) is the story as good as it appears?

Ok let me make this clear, Monster is (in my opinion) the greatest Anime ever, hell it could possible be the best story to be on any screen (I think there are some books that may be a little better but lets not go there). But anyways let me try to answer your questions.
1. Yes all of the episodes follow the Manga basically word for word. No they don't drag, Monster is a series that is plot driven with high amounts of character development.
2. I am not sure of what you are trying to say is chibit, but no. The art is realistic, people look like normal people. Although some people think that there is an over draw of heavy weight europeans.
3. Yes.........this is the best story by far, in fact I nearly wanted to stop watching anime because it's so good. It is meant as a complement, meaning that I don't think there are any other story that could be as good as Monster.

The Manga was recently released in the US (up to vol 2) so you could check that out if you want to. I highly recommend this show, the music is also very amazing, it subtle but oh so very effective. I hope you check it out at least.
Till next time,

Delta Kiral

P.S. PM if you want anymore info.

Popular theory points to cost. The series is long, which cost money to dub, and also the genre (Drama with heavy characters development, rather than action) is a very niche. Meaning there is a small percentage of people who will even watch it, I mean look at it the rating for show, top ten by those who have seen it yet it's not even in the top 50 for views.
I think that since a movie is in the process there may be a chance if the movie ever gets made. I think one company will at least take a chance, I mean why not by then there will be press for the series (by way of commerical for movie) and so that may boost sales to help with the enormous licensing fees.

Delta is right on with this one. Monster was indeed the greatest storyline for an anime I have seen. It is worth the 74 episodes because you will want to watch every episode.

There is a third option. Buy the manga and support the mangaka's hard work. But that's if you like to read, which seem to be a big problem in american now a days.

I agree if your really interested in the series, go and buy the manga. But since I think that The Great Melinko in this case is interested in the Anime. But I agree that you should buy the manga hopefully someone will get the message on how good this show is. Otherwise if you want the anime you're stuck with Fansubs.
