In the Berserk manga does Guts ever get any allies that do not betray him (and hopfully do not die). Also do they then either get thier own fight, or fight at the same time as the main character but are important in the fight, like when in (the obviously lighter) Ranma 1/2 where Shampoo, Mousse, Ryoga, and Ranma all fight Pantyhose Taro together?

lol, Gatsu doesn't need people to fight with him, he is a one man army!
 Yes, he gets allies that do not betray him, or at least haven't to where I am up to (vol 25). They may fight with him, but they are more like meat shields waiting for Gatsu to come and finish off the beast/deamon/thing. Gatsu>all

There are currently seven other people traveling with Guts. spoiler[Casca, Fernarze, Ishdolo, Puk, Serpico, Sirke and Ivalera. Ishdolo, being young and naive is looking for adventure, which is why he's with them. Casca, well, she's kinda out of her head right now so Fernarze is taking care of her. Fernarze ended up with the originally because she was trying to recapture Guts after he got away from her party (she was also deeply humiliated after almost being raped by a horse). But after seeing what kinds of dangers are out there, she rationalizes wisely that it's better to stay with Guts. Serpico serves Fernarze, which is kinda ironic because Fernarze was responsible for his mother's death. Puk is a fairy. Serke is a witch, who can battle evil spells which is pretty useful in the Berserk world. Ivalera is Serke's fairy.]

It's Guts, Puck, Isidro, Farnese, Schierke and Evarella. Not Gatsu, Puk, Ishidolo, Fernarze (??), Sirke and Ivalera. There.

Does Schierke ever play an important role in a fight, or even get one to herself?

Don't be sorry, fighterholic. Most of those characters haven't shown up in the English version yet. Dark Horse has only just released Volume 11, so I have no idea why Alucalb is sounding so authoritative. Maybe it's on the web somewhere, I don't know. Care to elaborate on your source, Alucalb?

As translator of the manga, I can vouch that Alucalb is correct in his spellings of the character names. Most of these spellings were handed down to me in the form of a story bible when I first took on the project. It was the Japanese licensor who made all of the decisions when it comes to how to spell the names of major characters. Right now the only one of this group up in the air is Evarella, as the licensor hasn't specified, but at this point that's the spelling I'm going with.
As was stated, the English version is only out up to volume 11 and that doesn't cover most of these characters. But starting with volume 27 of the Japanese release, character descriptions along with their official spellings were printed at the start of each volume. |

None of them have died, but there have been more minor characters that have sided with Guts and met terrible fates. And yes, they do get to fight 
|
