You really should mention what volume you are talking about. Fortunately, you didn't give away anything important.

I saw Berserk the anime. How vastly do the manga and anime differ?? Is the manga worth checking out?

Well, the anime covers roughly volumes 3-13 while removing some material. The manga is still going at 30 volumes.

If you read the spoiler you'll see what volume he means. But I'll tell you anyway, 16.

The anime follows volume 1 along with volumes 4-13 fairly closely...The anime is brilliant; the manga is vastly superior. Go forth and buy it.

I know, I already read it. But when mentioning a spoiler, you should mention the volume/episode (and series if the topic isn't about a specific series) OUTSIDE of the spoiler tags. Otherwise it defeats the purpose.

Yeah, it does, but I've already read up to volume 28 thanks to certain contacts.

Besides peoples' head being cut in half, a good chunk of nudity and sex, the huge epic war scenes when Guts and Griffith's mercenaries chopping their way through legions of people, and demon boobs, its actually a really indepth and sad story about Guts. He lived a sucky life in those medieval times. And its a great series and is a very well written story.

Well the way he was raised when he was little, and the fact spoiler[that he and his friends were betrayed by Griffith], and he also had to see spoiler[Casca get raped by Griffith ]has shaped Guts to what he is. He does not trust a lot of people, and he really doesn't care what happens to people either. Their business is not his business, he's just a traveling warrior, searching for revenge.

Isn't each volume of Berserk like $14 and it's printed on smaller paper, smaller than TP (not "toilet paper" but "Tokyopop")? I think this has stopped me from picking up the series. Although it does sound like it has some memorable sex scenes.

Yeah 14 dollar is a little bit steep, but if look online, you can find them for 7.50 and free shipping deal. It's like 1cm shorter than TP's manga, but it's also like 1 cm wider too. All DH/DMP manga are that size. You hardly can tell the difference when they're on the shelf. The paper quality is a tad bit better imo.

And vol. 9 while having major sex scene was also very critical point in the storyline. It had character that never made it into the anime. If you get the anime, you might enjoy it---but the manga is much better and much more explicited.

People with "sucky" life makes good hero or anti-hero. Look at Jenna J. Razz

The size of the release, is it Dark Horse who releases them, also made me not make the commitment for Hellsing. Where can I get them for $7.50? I'd be more than willing to pick them up if they were $10 or less. Those extra 4 dollars add up after a while, specially if you haven't been picking up as they are released.

Hellsing is kind of overrated (vol. 2 almost unreadable) and not on the same level as berserk. I think hellsing works better in animation, so it might be a good idea to wait for the Hellsing ova.

Check your PM.
