Heading forwards, it was stressed that 4Kids wants to focus on properties it owns, as opposed to properties that it licenses.

This is good news for anime fans. Provided they stick to that preference, it probably means fewer anime licenses.

Yes, maybe this will mean that they will eventually release more of their titles uncut in Japanese with English subtitles.

Doubt it.

4Kids is not an anime company, they have no interest in releasing stuff that hardcore fans will enjoy.

The best anime fans can hope for are unedited followups like they started to do a while back. But with those on indefinite hold, I doubt it.

Besides, why subtitle anime when "Kids don't read" ?

The only drawback to this are the shows they have the license to that they are now going to be sitting on.

They could always sublicense to another company. Much like how Nelvana and DiC sublicensed their animes to Geneon and FUNimations before they fell out of the market. After their failure to deliver the uncut Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh! DVDs in a timely fashion, I think this is more viable for 4Kids.

4Kids sold all its shares in the Pokemon Company equally to the remaining shareholders for $1 million

Does this mean 4Kids will no longer be making any money off of Pokemon? I know the property isn't nearly the monster it was several years ago, but it still makes money, and 4Kids will definately be missing that what with the rest of their revenues being down.

I still haven't had a chance to see their treatment of Doremi or Tokyo Mew Mew. Are there DVD releases of either of those series on the horizon that I can check out at my local rental store?

I somehow doubt Mr. Kahn will ever "get" it.

On the other hand, if this keeps up with any luck the stockholders and anyone else with a financial interest in the company, however, will get it, and make a move to correct the management responsible for falling profits.

I heard 4Kids lost the rights to future liscences to Pokemon due to the creation of Pokemon USA opening up in the states.

Oh, great, now for tons of pages of people venting about how much they hate 4Kids. Like we don't already know that. We get it, you hate them, I hate them, we all hate them. Can we lay it to rest already?

Wait, did Al Kahn actually say that? Wow.

To think that all this time JK Rowling has been buying millions and millions of copies of her own books. Shameful.

This makes me hard. It's far from being the downfall of the company, but every little bit that hurts 4Kids is good.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, "slowly but surely". 4Kids is definelty falling.

Quote:
4Kids CEO Al Kahn said he was "Extraordinarily disappointed & furious at the results of this year."

Well insulting the very industry and audience that your company caters to isn't exactly gonna make things better now is it?
