I remember hearing a rumor about a supposed subtitle only anime coming to adult swim but I guess that can be put to bed. Also, i think it's sad that Adult Swim wouldn't want to air a third season of Big O not because I'm a fan of it, but because the writer already has an idea for a third season. Usually, it's the network that wants a new season, and the writer not wanting any more to do with the series. I'm also glad that Adult Swim won't give up on the anime. It will be a sad day when Adult Swim gives it up because it's more profitable to cater to the stoner college kid crowd.

I still wanna hear Adult Swim's side to the story about them rejecting Gankutsuou. At Geneon's panel at AWA, they basically said "we wanted to offer [Gankutsuou] to them, but they told us 'no,'" which intrigues me quite a bit given the general buzz that surrounds that series. It could've been a real winner for them.

And speaking of Geneon, if I were Adult Swim I'd really be taking into deep consideration some of their big late-2005/early-2006 licenses. Fate/stay night, Ergo Proxy, and Hellsing Ultimate could potentially prove to be ratings gold for them if they chose to pursue said shows. And Bandai's got Eureka 7 in the works, which seems to be shaping up really nicely, as well.

F/SN would be a good series to air on AS, but knowing the way AS is, I have a fealing that we will be hearing that Gun Sword and Eureka 7 are what they are likely picking up. Eureka would be a great pick up, but if they do get Gun Sword, well it will lekely be the same as when s-CRY-ed aired on AS, very hit and miss.

I think that AS is rejecting some fine choices for shows...

I'm surprised that they didn't want Gankutsuou. And I'm still mad since I heard Fighting Spirit was offered to them, and they said no.

Wait! What?! They rejected Gankutsuou? That's a mistake.

That would be really nice. Those titles, including GUNXSWORD, are near the top of my 'Want to see' list.

a "strong" relationship with ADV

Can you say Loaded word?

To this day, It still surprised me that AS got Eva. Maybe because it’s been around forever and it’s such a well-known series. But I can’t see it being a smart business move, television wise, for ADV to allow AS to show their shows, when they still need to get The Anime Network off the ground a little more. It’s great for DVD sales, but who is going to pay to get The Anime Network when they could watch for “free” (cable costs) on AS.

One thing I could see ADV doing is only allowing AS to show maybe half of a series, then making you buy the DVD’s. This would be cold and heartless, but it would be great for business.

I guess you can say the same thing now for Funimation.

Ah? Another jab at why "Big O" season three isn't going to air? With "middling" ratings and DVD sales, why bring such a subject up in the first place unless people are still begging for it? With the odd hours of Big O, it's understandable for it to have average ratings (rather, poor ratings; yielding in a solid crowd in morning hours is surprising). I point to the tired and true excuse of AS; cheap, half-baked comedy like ATHF are simply much more popular.

On the offnote, FMA is going to end soon; it's likely that the movie will not air on AS for a *long* time, so that leaves AS without any serious FUNimation shows. Somehow, that doesn't describe a "great" relationship to me. Perhaps FUNi will be passing along several of its newer aquisitions...Negima!, perhaps?

Lastly, AS would be very wise to pick up the newer titles from Geneon. Samurai Champloo was a good move, but picking up the Hellsing OVA and fate/stay Night would be even better. Still, though, rejecting a show like Gankutsuou? How odd...

Aww, no Big O. They just had to mention the fact that they already have an idea behind the story line. Now I'm just dying to know what they could possibly have planned.

Anyways the Hellsing OVA? That would be heavily edited and I'd venture as far to say that it would cause a commotion. The original Hellsing anime maybe, but if the OVA stays true to the manga like it's doing, it would be way too violent and graphic. You can count on the forced groping/rape and excessive loss of limbs to be gone. And without that, Hellsing doesn't have much of anything to offer lol.

Now Fate/Stay Night is a vailid possibility, but I don't think that would be a hit with the average Adult Swim viewer.

Speaking of ADV titles, at an ADV panel at a con I went to, one of the ADV peeps (David Williams, I think) said that someone should whisper "Full Metal Panic" in the ears of the [as] executives, 'cause they would love to see that air on [as]. That would be awesome. Anime smile

I thnk AS has a thing aginst GONZO shows. I hear they rejected Kiddy Grade and Burst Angel as well.

ANd my opnion of Gun Sword, It makes s-CRY-ed look like FMA. I really don't want to say anymore than that because It will spoil.

It doesn't matter how many people on the forums *say* they want it, the actual number of viewers and sales speaks louder.

I think Eureka 7 will go to Toonami before it goes to Adult Swim. It's Bandai's big knock-em-dead property of 2006.

They rejected Burst Angel. Reason being: "This is a fun series, but it's got a little too much fan serivce for us." This quote is from Anime Insider.

Also from the same article they mention that Full Metal Panic is "A decent contender."

Given how far Adult Swim's come of late, I'm 100% confident that it wouldn't get edited nearly as much as you seem to think it would.

On the other hand, Eureka 7 going to Toonami wouldn't exactly be pretty. Sad

I would LOVE for that series to be on Adult Swim. The thing is that some of the anime fansubber viewers are already complaining about the pacing of Fate/stay night being too slow. I'm afraid that the average Adult Swim viewer would think of the same thing. Confused

As for anime possibilities for AS, what about Blood+? That garnered some fanbase since that short OVA, right? Rolling Eyes

Meh, I'm a big Gankutsuou fan and all but something tells me it's a little too deep plot wise and a little too lacking in the action department to make it on AS just yet. As for what they might pick up? Bleach, whoever it gets liscensed to, will be a gold mine. Samurai 7 would be a good fit for AS but they might not get it since Champloo might be enough samurai action for the time slot. Desert Punk may show up seeing as the Trigun-y nitche seemed pretty successful. Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if AS started picking up older shows for short bursts. I'ld also expect them to grab a solid push of movies soon, last late summer/early fall they played a good set of them.
