Wow, ADV got Konomini? Just from the looks of it, I thought Geneon would get this one.
Though in reality, I found that series very meh (and not to mention Gainax's worst of their 20th Anniversary projects). |

I'm suprised KonoMini took so long to get licensed considering it's a Gainax project.
It's an alright series, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get it. It largely depends on how many series I am getting when it comes out. |

I guess it was only a matter of time before Konomini got licenced. I really could care less considering it was one of the biggest letdowns and generally one of the weakest series of the past couple of years, though I'm sure it'll do well since it's Gainax.

heh I could care less about Konomini but the entire original Area88 ova being released on dvd is sweet music to us oldschool anime fans. Now I can sell my lasersic player and toss the badly translated manga corps version \o/

The original Area88 ova was released in the mid 80s, a new tv show was made in 04 and licensed soon afterwards

Is there a difference between Area 88 TV and OVA? |

While the TV series is very good, the OVA is a masterpiece.
If you had to pick just one, i'd pick the OVA everytime. |

Oh, snap!
It wasn't that great of a show. It had its moments but I found it to be rather uninspired.
Well, I thought so too, but for other reasons. (I got this from another site who's name I forget. Sorry.) Now maybe I can get that life-sized Hikari at Otakon or someplace. |

Hmm. Unlike Bandai Visual that only made a brief appearance at ED credits of A!MG, Geneon is a member of the production committee AND has its label visible virtually everywhere. I wonder if ADV would edit them out. By the way, ADV could cast the same people who had voiced Mahoromatic... |

Crispin Freeman does not = Takeru
I was thinking more of using the Love Hina cast (since that's what I thought of with some of the supporting cast), but nobody cares about David Lucas anymore. |

When i heard the title "This ugly and beautiful world" the first thing that came to mind was the Kino's Journey movie. Oh well, hopefully ADV will license and release that someday....

Well, well. Kono Minikuku finally got licensed. I can't say that I'm excited about this new show (because the series isn't GAINAX's best effort by a long shot), but I wish ADV the best as far as moving units.
On a related note, I really do believe that the anime market here in the U.S. is being bombarded with too many average/below average shows. |

Yay for Area 88 OVA! I been waiting for something done with that old school series. I hope ADV does the right thing and has all 3 episodes on ONE DVD. Even better if they release the soundtracks!
