Actually it's not really Pioneer's dub. Saban only handled the distribution rights for the dvd's of movies 1-3 and episodes 1-67 for several years, before their rights to them expired and went back to Funimation. The dub's heavy editing is more the fault of Saban and Funimation. Funimation chose to replace the music "to earn royalties for every second it's heard," and to eliminate all silence and because they thought a Japanese soundtrack wouldn't be "cool" enough for American viewers. Funimation also didn't hire a translator until Steven J. Simmons a few years later and before then used heavily-mistranslated (but free) scripts from Toei. From these scripts they intentionally "Americanized" them all with no efforts to view or be familiar with the original version. Blue Gender was the first anime where the company viewed the original version numerous times before getting started on the dubbing process. Saban, well, just wanted almost every minor piece of content censored, with rules more strict than what CN would show. In conjunction, Funimation followed their orders and skipped/merged episodes to get past "boring" content. If anything it should be called the Funimation/Saban dub since both companies were involved in editing it strongly to various degrees. If anything the Pioneer dub of DBZ (which was only movies 1-3) remains the BEST dubbing DBZ's ever seen and probably ever will. Even Funimation's "Ultimate Uncut" dvd of movie 1 edited the dub's usage of original music and also added in a Hanna Barbera sound effect to the Japanese version that originally was never there. |

Given the state of anime in North America, a Trigun movie wouldn't make nearly as much as another season of Trigun. |

That's about right. The first few episodes are really good and then it slowly (or abruptly, for some people) goes downhill. Destiny loves to use flashbacks and recap episodes. It has 5 or 6 recap episodes (including one in the last 10 episodes) and the amount of flashbacks is ridiculous. You get to see spoiler[Nicole and what's-is-name] die a dozen times, as if seeing them die over and over in SEED wasn't enough. The main problems, though, are that the director just couldn't figure out who the main character was supposed to be or where the story was going. Shinn is supposedly the new main character, but you'd never guess it just by watching the series. Most new characters get little to no character developmen and returning characters regress. Oh, and some of the Openings have spoilers as well. Granted, you'd have to be pretty dense not to have figured out the big one by that point, but they are still spoilers. |

For some reason, I can't really blame them for that...(but I haven't actually seen much DBZ, so I'm just joking around here) Wow, I knew this contest would have some interesting results, but that winner is increíble, de verdad. I'm almost tempted to order some piece of merchandise and see what happens  *is looking forward to seeing more entries*
