The main characters of the ensemble cast are two girls, Yotsuba&! (a cheerful pit-stop mechanic who works at the family car repair business) and Chloe (a French girl who's Yotsuba&!'s childhood friend).

The auto-formatting of the character's name to Yotsuba&! (complete with link) made me think for a second that this was some kind of crossover with the Yotsuba&! manga, which almost broke my brain. Although I bet that there are people who would shell out for a manga with that premise. Smile

I don't know if you can fairly call X Hunter Ray's art "polished" and "lavish" when at least three of the panels just on the page shown in this article are, unless I'm crazy, copied directly from Death Note. Clearly the artist didn't spend much time on that art at all; all he needed was some good tracing paper and a computer.

I knew they were ripping off Death Note, but I didn't realize they were actual panel swipes! That rat! Can you post a link?

As for the 'polished', it's like this Mythbusters episode (second Myth from the top): http://mythbustersresults.com/end-with-a-bang

That would be so much better. It's almost as cheerful as Yotsuba&!, actually.

It's good to know that Ippongi Bang is still in the industry! Her stuff is way too good to just fall into oblivion. I've only been able to get a single issue of one of her works (Change Commander Goku), and it's a breath of fresh air.

I'd subscribe to ComicLoud just for her serial, I would.

Haha, touché! Laughing

As for the panels he's copying, I don't really have time to look for them right now, but I'll edit them into this post when I'm able to^^

EDIT: Now that I'm done with finals, I found some time to do a little hunting. I couldn't find the fourth panel's source, but it certainly looks like it was traced from something. The expressions (particularly Light's clone) don't really match the situation at all. But! I did find the other two I was looking for before I lost interest (sorry for the crappy scan quality):

Panel 3, with Rei looking surprised:

Here are two equally likely possibilities (I flipped them both so they would be facing the right way), but Rei looks so similar to Light that pretty much any profile image of him could have been used. Especially in profile, the shapes of their faces are exactly the same. They really could be clones.

This one is the truly egregious one, though--the last panel, with Allie holding up a phone:

The two faces are identical, from the curve of the mouth to the shape of the eyes to the line of the eyebrows. Even her bangs were just traced directly! At least he had the prudence to change her nose slightly, I guess. I wouldn't be surprised if the hand holding the phone was also traced, but from a different source, but I'm much too lazy to look for that. Searching through 108 chapters of manga for a couple insignificant images was enough.

The problem people have with Comic Sans is that people use it in serious situations like making fliers or office documents. Now arguably, there are probably better fonts to use. But, for comics, I would think its completely appropriate to use comic sans.

I had no idea that Shintaro Kago had stuff that was getting officially translated to english on a regular basis. This highly intrigues me.
