Well I hope this announcment is "final." I've yet to actually see the movie myself, but am looking forward to the DVD release. Do any of you think the soundtrack will make it over as well?

Well I should hope that it's final, and I really would like to have the soundtracks licenced. Now just watch the date get pushed back. *sigh*

Damn.

And here I was hoping that somehow Sony managed to get the "Last Order" OVA for the US release, which would've more than justified the delay, IMO.

Oh, well. *sits back and eyes Sony like a fish*

Special Edition? As in, there's a non-special edition in the works? Sounds rather backwards, to me. I wonder if my Amazon order will be for this DVD, or something...less special...to come later. Confused I certainly did NOT pay $26 for it through Amazon, though this was the going rate elsewhere back in, uh, fall 2005. Not that I'm expecting anything in April, of course.

Last I heard, Squeenix was committing to Advent Children "by the end of 2006," having finally realized that "late 2005" wasn't going to cut it anymore. And now they're supposed to release it five months or so into the year? Hrmph. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm with you on both sentiments there. I have been waiting fairly patiently for this to be released on DVD, and I'm one of the few people in my circle of interested friends who hasn't seen the movie yet.

Of course, given the other slew of "final" release dates, I can't say that I'm going to be holding my breath for this one. The DVD will come out when it comes out, and I'll see the movie when I see it.

Not releasing it with a dub track would be commercial suicide. They're aiming this at a market a bit wider than that which buys arthouse fare like Millenium Actress (and Sony's not Dreamworks, so they won't release it close-captioned-subtitles-only to save money and then claim it's an artistic decision).

And, if they're releasing it as a UMD, you can be pretty sure most people who would opt to watch it on the PSP wouldn't want to squint just to be able to read the subs.

Translation: expect a release sometime around December at the earliest.

God. Sony is almost as bad about these things as Konami is about Yu-Gi-Oh! games for new systems.

Wow, that's an intriguing cast right there with a mix of the LA regulars with a couple celebrites. Man, I wished I had a chance to play FF7 so I could check out the dub for this movie.

I've got my calendar marked for November '06 Very Happy

But seriously, whenever this actually does come out, I'll buy it, even though I was one of the 21 gazillion people who downloaded it.

You know, I actually think that the April release date is actually final. I know most of you don't think so, but it does make the most sense considering Kingdom Hearts II comes out at the end of March and uses the Advent Children costumes and the same voice cast for the FF7 characters. What better way to hype Advent Children's release than doing it with the one game that nearly any gamer is going to buy anyway?

Actually...April 25th.

The main page here on ANN already posted that prior to the VA annoucements. Hopefully Sony will stay with this date, as I'm tired of waiting to buy these DVDs. Although, I'm actually looking forward to seeing this dubbed now...so time to go reserve a copy Anime smile

I'm looking into my crystal ball and I see....two more "final" release dates.

Seriously, this has become something of a joke. Wasn't this originally due back in November?
