So Yuki Kajiura's FictionJunction YUUKA is doing the opening theme? Just curious, I haven't heard much about Kajiura's See-Saw, have they gone separate ways now, or is she just handling both at the same time? Because I know that See-Saw provided a handful of tunes for other .hack series and I think it's curious to see them absent.

I found out a while ago from http://www.dothackers.net I'm VERRYYY excited. I've already read the first chapter of the GU manga and seen all the avaliabe trailers so I'm interested to get more into the story (coma vitcims and all) And since I love anything Yuki Kajiura I'm on a daily hunt for the songs I hope her music is just as good as always. Quick question to admins. Will you put the fact that it is the anime prequal to the game .hack//G.U. that will be released in may in the article so people can know what it's going to be about? http://www.dothackers.net/guanime.php

SeeSaw still get together from time to time; the most recent thing I've heard from them was the fourth and final ending theme to Gundam SEED Destiny back around the fall of last year. But for the most part, Yuki Kajiura's collborative work these days comes mostly through her FictionJunction identity. Not just FictionJunction YUUKA, but FictionJunction ASUKA and FictionJunction KAORI, as well; it all depends on who the vocalist happens to be (and as I've always understood it, all of the FictionJunction collaborations thus far have been between Kajiura and members of I'VE Sound, leaving me hoping we'll see a FictionJunction KOTOKO before too long ). |

I've been hoping for more .hack since the //AI buster novels were released. Two years ago, I read an article stating there would be no more .hack series (unless I misread). This year, I've heard about many novels, two new games, and now this. For those who think .hack//SIGN has a bad, slow-moving story, I would suggest watching/reading/playing everything. Putting together the story is really worth it. (The "slow-moving" part is true, though. )
Wow, that is crazy. |

I'm still waiting for Bandai to make a .Hack MMORPG, but I guess I'll settle for more anime.

That's sort of coming in the form of the PS2 game .hack//FRAGMENT, though I've heard reports that Bandai keeps calling it an ORPG (online RPG) instead of an MMORPG, so I have to assume the gameplay will be closer to a fusion of the original .hack games and traditional RPGs than a straight-up MMO similar to World of Warcraft or Everquest 2. |

I can't wait! I hope that it's as good as Sign was. Legend of the Twilight wasn't all that great though. I wish that it followed the manga more. I can't wait to see it. I've been waiting for more .Hack anime for a long time!

I'm glad that the .hack series are continuing, but looking at the encyclopedia entry makes me feel... I don't know. To have The World destroyed by a fire at CC Corp and then to be rebuilt using data from another game... What happened to Aura? Where did all our hard work from the games go? Judging from the trailers for the GU game, I'm hoping everything up till now wasn't for nothing.

Look at it this way, .hack//G.U. is basicly a Bandai Version of Final Fantasy. Some things remain the same throught the different games, but most of the time there are completly different characters and story. For example, if you read .hack//AI Buster, the vagrent AI in this one is Lycoris, in SIGN and in the games (which the time between the 2 is very small compared to the time difference of SIGN and AI Buster) that is Aura's reign. Then in DUSK/Legend of the Twilight, it was Aura who gave them the bracelt, but another AI that they found (Since I didn't like LOT I didn't memorize it like everything else) And now with G.U. Triedge. All the "hard work from the games" was exclusive to the games, SIGN, GIFT, Intermezzo Unison, and AI Buster (and the soon to be released "Another Birth" which is all about the games from the POV of Blackrose.) Everything before that and after have almost nothing to do with it. The sur-names of the charcters are the same (EX: Haseo is refered to as "The Terror of Death, the PKK Haseo") Those names are still used. Unfortuantly I do not know the signifigance of why the 8 main characters have those names attached to them (and why Haseo calls out Skeith's name in the trailer, and also "The Temptress", Endurance, is a MAN for goodness sake. Which that is just kinda creepy ) but hopfully Roots and G.U. will answer all of those questions. (sorry for the rant) |

I'm looking forward to the next installment. I really liked SIGN but Legend of the Twilight Bracelet wasn't so good. I hope it's more like the former and less like the latter. Haven't played any of the games though, I prefer my computer for that (especially for RPGs) and they're only available for Playstation incarnations.

Well sure, Bandai is aiming for Final Fantasy with .hack now, but what I think UltimaLuminaire is trying to say is that they should keep that .hack feel and style across the stories, something I agree on. It says that The World has been combined with another game, so I think we can all agree we don't want that new game interfering with out-of-place stuff like guns, 10 races, and a different fantasy look.
Also, .hack is very different from Final Fantasy in that, even though this is a new story Bandai is starting, .hack occurs all in one continuous timeline, while Final Fantasy occurs in completely different times and worlds, since it's very hard to link games together chronologically. (Yes, there are exceptions, like FFX & FFX-2, the Compilation of FFVII, and FFXII being the game that the characters of FF Tactics Advance base their fantasy world on thanks to the book, but these are rare.) .hack needs to keep its continuity and feel across every single piece of the story, or else .hack will lose that something special that only special games/anime have. |

I agree. From the information that has been released I think it sticks very much to the .hack style. The coma situation is back in full swing (Shino) Vagrent AIs (Triedge) And even the names "Haseo the terror of death" but also I like the changes that have been brought to "The World" as well, such as new classes, rise in PKing, etc. I'm not saying that the storyline from the other games is bad, but after playing all 4 games I do want something new to play/watch. G.U. perserves the old but gives us something new as well which I think is a good thing. And actually G.U. has already been explained in the .hack time line. spoiler[ CC Corp had a fire in 2015. This destoryed most of the files and data from The World. The next year they were able to rebuildthe system and created The World: R2. G.U. takes place in 2017.] Also I was comparing it to FF because that's the only series that has any similarites to it. I guess I lke .hack over FF because unlike FF I'm able to connect everything which is what you brought up earlier, so that is definatly a plus for .hack. |
