Wow. Now I didn't see this comming. I know this topic has been discussed before but. Here are the real results of the Japanese box office for the year 2005.

http://www.eiren.org/toukei/index.html

So, to my surprise. Which I infact couldn't belive last time we discussed this. But, Howl's Moving Castle is the most grossing movie in both 2004 and 2005. That's just too much. The second most grossing Japanese movie is a Pokemon movie. I can't read the third one. And NANA is in the forth position. NANA is a live action manga adaptation, as we all know.

But the thing that amased me the most was, that HMC made more money than the new Harry Potter movie and the new Star Wars movie. I mean, Harry Potter and Star Wars ep. III are like the world's biggest movies now. And HMC beat them.

I think it's great that an anime is diong that good but, to be honest, I don't think that HMC was THAT good...

Actually, I translated most of the list last night ^^

I think Howl's success, whether a good movie or not, is not surprising . . it's Miyazaki = established name in family fun + kid-friendly because no subtitles + supporting domestic economy.
