The fansubber are making a mistake with inserting so many German words, it makes it hard to understand things, and I even find myself going off what I understand in Japanese over what some of the subtitles. I am still having fun and looking forward to how next episode turns out.

After seeing the huge sh*tstorm that caused, I went with another group. Of course, if you're watching subs on a streaming site then you don't get a choice.

You could always download the releases of the better (or more normal) group and then immediately delete them once watched. That's what I'd do if I were in your position.

Wow. I was watching episode three and had that exact same thought. Teams of girls from different girls-only high schools who - using an (in-universe) sport that's super-popular with girls - battle one another for national glory.

Can't wait for the crazy superpowers to pop up. Tank armour that reflects enemy shells back where they came from? Guns that can shoot abnormally fast, allowing for rapid fire? Radio jamming to stop the enemy from communicating with one another? (Actually, that would be fairly plausible).

I wonder what will happen when those old tanks go up against a M1A1 or a T-90. I mean, how far before and after WW2 are the teams allowed to source tanks from (if you know what I mean)? And are all tanks going to be fighting vehicles or will there be (for example) specialist bridge-layers that will give the other tanks on its team advantages?

Finally, will the girls be maintaining their tanks (like sighting, cleaning the barrel, oiling them et cetera) or is that all going to be done by the yet-to-be-seen motor club?

think they already brushed past unreasonable maintenance when they found one tank under water and had it running fine in under a week. just replacing all the rubber parts and seals for all the tanks would have meant tearing them apart and re-assembling them. not to mention engines that have sat for that many years are huge paper weights and would need re-boring all the cylinders new pistons and crank shafts all new bearings/push rods/valves/timing chains/sprockets...etc...etc...

all the barrels would need returning because the pitting from weather changes would make them dangerous to fire.

in other words and to make an ever increasing list of maintenance shorter its fantasy don't expect reality.

You guys know Commie has a second non-German track? Not that I'd use it, all of the BS inserts make the show more interesting.

Anywho, digging that blinged out tank that three officers use, this show is turning out to be way more exciting than I initially thought it'd be.

Yes, but they were stupid in not understanding that many English-speakers don't like reading another language in their subtitles unless the foreign word (in this case German) was actually spoken. Juggling three languages at once (spoken Japanese, English subs and frequent German words in those subs) is too much to ask for someone who just wants to chillax and be entertained; the many pissed off people were testament to that. Plus they were not very apologetic about it, releasing a V3 that still had gratuitous German. And it wasn't like their German was any good in the first place; apparently they got several things wrong, so even some native German speakers were annoyed at having to read incorrect German subtitles.

Even if subsequent episodes now have the option of dual subtitle tracks, I'd rather go with a group who I can trust to make sensible decisions and who aren't pricks.

Well, I'm enjoying the gibberish German as much as I enjoyed the embellishments for B Gata.

Tanks without infantry is ridiculous.

Maybe they save that for college? Maybe there are clubs for infantry, and close air support at other schools? These girls seem to be in clubs for operating tanks only, and not dealing with combined forces tactics (at least so far, and the series isn't all that long). It is very ridiculous, but it's been fun so far.

They don't have the first clue about tactical theory. I find this amusing and irksome at once.

I don't expect much from fun fluff.

This is wrong on so many different levels.

Perhaps you should also join the posters in this hilarious thread about the lack of realism in another forum?

And totally derivative of Tank Police.

I don't see any connection with _Dominion_ Tank Police beyond the existence of tanks, so which Tank Police show are you referring to?

They even have a Renault.

I don't see how one car from a major French auto manufacturer means it's derivative.

Three minutes into it and I am spending more time finding wrong points than just watching it.

It's wrong on so many levels, and that's partially why I'm finding it to be so entertaining.

Tanks on an aircraft carrier? Hm, when what the last time I saw the what doesn't belong here trope?

The tanks are the only issue that you have with the aircraft carrier-like ship? There's a whole town with varying terrain there, but the _tanks_ are a problem?

Oh, and, yeah, too many crosses.

Crosses? I'm not remembering any at the moment.

I could have enjoyed this if were a bit more like, say, Angel Beats, but it's just an inflated balloon.

I was bored by Angel Beats. I'm not quite sure why you're comparing the two. They're both anime, but beyond that...

I also think that their instructer seems spoiler[kind of poor in having them do a sparing match so quickly without even inspecting their tanks, or actually teaching them how to use them].

I'll definitely agree with that. There wasn't much point in her presence as shown in the TV series. Maybe she did more in whatever material the show's based upon? Probably not, but...

Gotta say I am a fan of team C, just something kind of awesome about them.

Why aren't these the main characters? Especially this girl.

You just like girls named after famous German field marshals when they (kinda) dress like them.

@ Ingraman

ok that was funny.

but yeah! no support till college for you! and anti tank squads in university.

funny the crew that dropped a tread didn't return covered from head to toe in grease and mud after having to wrestle the hundreds of pounds of metal back into place. so it could be re-thread back onto the wheels.

The girls with the disabled tanks were told to just walk back to the clubhouse, while another club would retrieve the big paperweights. They didn't have to get dirty...

the one question we should pose is if this was all on a big ship why would the tanks be in a cave, a lake ...etc..

have you ever heard of ANY navy so lax about whats aboard?

I'm also glad I'm not in any of those non tank clubs doing all the work behind the scenes like one of those home reno shows so it can look like it was done in 30 minutes would suck.

I don't think it's a navy. It seems to be a city-state aboard a monster ship sort of like the one in Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere.

In both cases the anime gets very careless with scale. In Panzer you get wide open fields and lakes and deep forests and mountains and parking lots and shopping districts and residential neighborhoods all on the top of what seems to be an aircraft carrier about 2KM long. Oh, and a school with warehouses for tanks and a practice field that somehow gets ignored for years.

These animes are all about creating peculiar situations. Any resemblance to reality is strictly incidental.

even so. there would pretty much need to be someone running the ship beyond a mayoral group. the topside may be a huge city/suburbia but the other 80% is a ship. no i don't expect reality "At All" just kind of gaping at the total lack of it.

Sounds like the Macross emigration vessels. Most of the inhabitants are civilians leaving peacefully in the city under the dome, and the underside, perimeter, and transforming battle ship are all part of UN Spacy. Then again, GuP isn't about interstellar expansion or defense, it's about girls fighting other girls in tanks, I doubt there even is global conflict worth mentioning.
