I'm going....if it turns out to be true. I live in Houston and this is the first I've heard of it. I checked the Houston Museum of Natural Science event calendar and nothing related to this is on there. They do have an IMAX screen there but I doubt that would relate to any anime being shown. They do have a "Distinguished Lecturer" series, but still I have no idea why Watanabe would be travelling to this city for something like that. It would seem like he would be more at home at the Museum of Fine Arts right down the street where they do have a stage and an auditorium and a screen. Very puzzling. I emailed the Museum of Natural Science for info and also wrote to the Japan-America Society of Houston to see if they'd heard anything about this. It would be a real thrill to hear him speak, because Bebop is the series that started my interest in anime, as I'm sure it did for a lot of people. Hopefully, more details will be forthcoming quickly.

>< Awww, I wanna go! Shinichiro Watanabe is one of my favorite anime directors and I love his work. I've always wanted to have the chance to meet him one day, it sucks I live so far away from Texas.

Maybe he's going to announce he's directing an anime installment of Walking with Dinosaurs? Hey...I can dream... |

The info is posted on the Consulate-General of Japan at Houston website. There is a number for more information. I'll definately be there. Maybe those of us planning on going should try to meet up while we are there?

I was going to say that. Those interested can pm me or whatever. We'll all try to set something up mayhaps. I'm interested to know what he will lecture on. I hope we can speak to him face-to-face as well. |
