That's an interesting number, and quite pleasing too. I've been saying constantly since Angel Beat's fumble in the third act that anime being constrained to 13 or stretched to 24 can ruin what's otherwise a good show, and some stories naturally fit into odd episode counts that are otherwise impossible to receive outside of addenda OVAs. Ozma ran for 6 episodes, and that was already too long. Hyouka's going for 21 and that should finish it out just fine, but the recent Last Exile was several episodes too short at the same length, it needed that extra ~66 minutes to fill in some horrendously large gaps. I hope this becomes a more common occurrence in first run airings.

I agree with walw6pK4Alo that there are some anime series that are too short, and others that are too long. I find the 17 episode count for Kokoro Connect interesting. It is good that this number of episodes is going to allow animate four arcs.
Kokoro Connect seems like a cool idea to me, and I hope we see more of the light novels animated in the near future.

The article is written really confusingly, there are seven volumes, broken down like this:
Hito Random: Volumes 1 + 2 (5 episodes)
Kizu Random: Volumes 3 + 4 (5 episodes)
Kako Random: Volume 5 (3 episodes)
Michi Random: Volumes 6 + 7 (4 episodes)

I agree with you in this one. I had to go the anime website to figure it out. Seven volumes seem few, considering the episode count.

Far better than stopping at 12 or 13, which is what tends to happen more often than a show being dragged to 24 or 26.

I love Kokoro Connect, so this news was the best thing I could hear after coming home from having a filling xD
Now, if only they would announce that the JP BDs have English subs [/doubt it].

The 4 words that come before Random roughly describe the type of situation that Heartseed puts the group in. I wonder what Michi and Kako refers to.

This show has taken me by surprise and one I can't wait to see every week. 5 extra episodes is a blessing in my book. Wahoo! ( yeah, excited )

Looks like they can be more open-minded with the number of episodes after all. But still, 17 eps is a weird number.

17 actually makes as much sense as 13 or 26, it's close to a third of a year.

That's a shame, anime need to have their original TV runs not be dictated by seasonal schedules.
