Well, me and my guy friends get together each Sunday and we watch Haguree Yuusha (and many others). I have never EVER been so entertained by anything, even, as I am by Hagure. It is just 110% entertaining. What the bloody hell is Akatsuki going to do next that can top what he just did? Wait... is he using his mastery of chi to climb on walls, for shits and giggles? Did he just change her bra size by pressure points? And I don't mean the size of her bra... DAMN MAN, YOU ARE BOSS!!!
Is the show stupid? Actually, yes. Does it make any sense? Not really.
Is it entertaining? Oh, hell yeah!

Yes, I'm also losing faith in Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero even though Akatsuki is a total boss.
Overall, average season for me so far. Kokoro Connect is probably my favorite series of the summer and somewhat along with SAO.

Almost certainly his sister. Badminton-kun has a major siscon.

I must be alone, I hate this. I dislike that character, and I don't particularly like the male lead all that much either. I don't find it heartfelt or touching, and Ryusuke can't exactly build a relationship with Rokka if he's not even there.

Boobies For the Win, Boobies for the Paycheck. As much as I'd love to see Trapeze and Kaiba get licensed, it's just not in the cards. They're not going to sell in the same numbers.

I have to say i do actually like Hagure Yuusha, i guess i just like Ousawa's confidence in everything he does perv-wise. Most prevy protagonists tend to be rather sleazy, kinda like this guy:
but Ousawa has a supreme confidence about the whole thing, and i just don't mind it since its more a for laughs thing for him, yet doesn't go as far as to border on sinister intentions, in fact its probably what makes a series like Hagure actually bearable unlike stuff like Highschool DxD
Also, i'm really surprised it took so long to drop Nakaimo, and yet So, I Can't Play H! is still hanging on in there, even over Oda Nobuna and Campione!, which dropped out even earlier
Agree about Moyashimon Returns though, it is abit "meh" now, could be that it simply lost its flow being away for as long as it was, its just carried on where it left off and i kinda think i'd be feeling better about it if it was a straight 22 episode series, all in 1-hit as opposed to what it really is (2x11, with an almost 5 year gap)

That's the best part of Hagure Yuusha - what will Ousawa do next that will top what he did in the last episode? Totally entertaining even though the show is pretty blah overall and the character designs aren't great either (everyone is so stocky).

Thanks for clearing that out cause honestly I was wondering if that episode had any purpose at all,not that it matters if you laugh every 5 seconds.

I also saw it on the other sites that people are complaining about it being boring.I still find it quite entertaining and it definitely is more educational than first season.
Also this is the first time I noticed that there is no Lagrange on the list. Why isnt it there?

Aw darn, Bamboo didn't quite make it to a year of the top show always being a Josei.

Why the hell would I want to do that?

I love reading your reviews, Bamboo, because they seem so well-thought out, objective and fair, while still being individual and expressing your true feelings. I love Kuroko's Basketball too, but it certainly belongs down the lower end of the pack. So, I Can't Play H!, too, is markedly terrible, yet your enjoyment of the series is stated anyway.

"siscon" is a noun referring to the person, like "lolicon". He is a siscon, or he has a sister complex.

I agree that Kokoro Connect has gone down in the last few episodes. The characters' reactions and behaviour, and the gravity of the issues they deal with just don't gel.
Which is quite a pity, since the reason why the show was so likable in the first three episodes was because the characters felt believable. Now they just feel out of sync, as if the author wanted to create a romantic comedy scenario but wrote in stuff that is way too dark for a story like this. The result is that the serious issues are trivialized.

Love the column, as always. Honestly, every show this season seems either dumb, derivative, or both (with the exception of "Space Bros", but I haven't gotten into that yet.) I'm just going back and watching all of the Lupin movies in my downtime until Fall rolls around and we maybe get some shows that come somewhere close to the greatness we got in Spring.

That would be hard, since technically, Chihayafuru was shoujo, and I'm pretty sure Bodacious Space Pirates was seinen. (I'm assuming you meant "season", but even then, Kids on the Slope is the first time on this column that a josei series has stayed at the top of the list for the whole of its run.)
Anyway, I'm ashamed to say that I let myself get way behind on Space Brothers. But after the Curiosity rover landed I was on a bit of a space high, so I decided I would try and catch up a bit. I'm a bit surprised- I thought it would be too slow-paced, but it's actually pretty well-suited to marathoning! That quirky sense of humor never gets old, and they always put a great (and frustrating) cliffhanger at the end of every episode. But I'll be glad to be able to watch it week by week again^^
Still loving Polar Bear Cafe. It's consistently funny, and I just want to hug all the adorable animals! From this season, the series I'm enjoying the most is undoubtedly Humanity Has Declined, with its wonderfully cynical sense of humor and a weirdness that doesn't feel forced. I'm also enjoying, in order of how much I like them, Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Utakoi, Sword Art Online, Tari Tari, Kokoro Connect, and Arcana Famiglia. Aside from Natsuyuki Rendezvous and Utakoi, both of which I have no problems with yet, I am pretty much having the same problems as Bamboo with these series. I don't really know why I'm still watching Arcana Famiglia. I guess it just hasn't really become a chore yet, and I really do enjoy watching Hot Dudes In Suits. I just hope they're planning on getting around to the fighting someday.
Hunter x Hunter just entered my favorite arc of the whole series thus far. It will take a few more episodes to get everything set up, but don't worry, Bamboo- your patience will soon be rewarded!

I'm struggling to work out what Polar Bear Cafe and Utakoi are derived from.
I'd like to know, since I'd like to watch those shows too.

Glad to see Bamboo is liking Binbogami-ga; that's my personal pick of the new Summer shows (points to my avatar). I can't wait for the next episode to see what happens to mini-Ichiko . I'm a fan of mean-spirited humor so long as it's not hateful, and this show delivers on that field while also giving some positive moments.
Couldn't agree more about Aesthetica; I like dumb fanservice shows, too, but this one crosses too many lines. Kind of surprised there was no mention of the "uh-oh! Is he really gonna rape her?!?! Oh, wait- he just wanted to get her to be more honest with herself. That's so kind." scene . And yeah, the lesbo-molester is also cringe inducing. Because, you know, gay people are always forcing themselves onto others . Makes my complaints about Kuroko's behavior in what I've seen of Railgun seem like an over-reaction .

Commitment? Bah. I'm watching because I love it and can't stay away! If it ever gets boring, I'll walk away and say that I owe it nothing.
Case in point: Humanity Has Declined, where I haven't even gotten around to giving it that one last chance by watching episode 5 yet. I guess I'll watch 5-6 back-to-back sometime this weekend, since they're another self-contained story. Probably. If I'm not busy.
